P: LR4 Beta: Ability to create and save book template pages in the Print Module

Creating Custom-Pages in the print module an save it as Book-Template instead of saving it as JPG and reimport it. Other publishers can so provide their own templates for LR4.
If you add this saving option, it would be necessary to add text-box options in the print module.

You can't ... there was a promise of a method to create custom page sizes/templates ... over five months ago ... no word yet ....

Kevin T. said this in an interview on Feb 7, 2012 ...

"Yes! All of the templates we ship with Lightroom are made using Illustrator, and I'll be documenting the process for creating those. We've also successfully made templates using InDesign and the freeware tool called Scribus, so if you need templates in different sizes, you'll have a range of options."

Apparently that documentation must be extremely time consuming and/or difficult to share .... Kinda makes one wonder if maybe there is a quota of Blurb sales that must be met in order to trigger the release of information on how we can create our own templates ...

You can read the entire interview here ...

The ability to add or to customize page templates with in books mod. either from my own templates or better yet from the print mod. even the ability to rotate templates that are already there would help! thanks

Lightroom 4b feature request: I really really want to be able to use the print module to create new layout templates for the book module. (I know I can go through the detour of exporting a page layout to jpeg from the print module but that really sucks).

Great idea. I really think this function is really necessary.

1. Absolutely need to be able to map free text boxes (book or print module) to any metadata field, with full formatting options (any where, any style).
2. If (when) creating a book template from a page template provide the option to flip to protect gutter and page formatting.

The merge should have been done the other way round.

I do not agree with the merge.
My idea covers significantly more than this one here:
The ability to put free text boxes unto current print templates, plus map them to any metadata catalog field available, full text formatting capability, plus the mirroring of a print template.

Don't do any kludges with excursion to Adobe illustrator for custom book templates, but:

Empower the print module / custom package
* to put any text box there, which can be mapped to any metadata field.
Enable text formatting options like currently (LR4b#1) in the book module.

* Offer the functionality to create a mirrored template along the vertical axis to cater for left & right pages.

* Then enable, e.g. via right-click from the template browser panel in print module,
to export the print template as book template, either as single page or double-spread.

[Not part of this idea, but I consider it a well achieved feature if the other great ideas around the topic are implemented as well:
*about outer+inner borders (http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...,
*opacity for cells (http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...)
*full text editor (http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...]

Yes, very good idea!
Just enable text boxes in the print module as freely as well:
Either to fill with free text or with any meta data field content available.
