P: Need Shortcut to save DNG Files

I just found out that somewhere along the line, executing a CTRL-S or CMD-S no longer works with DNG files.  Instead, I need to head up to the menu and select:

Metadata > Update DNG Previews and Metadata

I gather this is NOT the case for other file extensions.

While I don't like this, I am sure there is a reason, but Adobe NEEDS to provide a shortcut to do this for the many of us who are keystrokers and used to shortcuts ...

Maybe an ALT/OPTION-S or some such.

Please, this is critical for many of us.

It will take a long time because LrC has to render every file.

Even in smaller batches, it takes forever, and you are right, deleting the previews folder did not help.

I am havin g teh same issue with tif and psd files.  UGH!

What is the issue you're trying to resolve by using Update DNG Previews instead of just  'Save Metatdata to files' (Cntrl/Cmd+S)?

Can't you select them ALL in Libary Grid view and select the Metadata/Update DNG Previews.................    and do them all at once.  You don't have to do them one at a time.  I probably wouldn't do all 58000 all at once though.  I don't use DNG as I see no advantage except for maybe the Checksum and a LOT of disadvantages.

The DNG previews are embedded within the file. So, deleting the previews folder will do absolutely nothing to the DNG files.

And I am still hoping that Adobe will come up with a keystroke shortcut for this Metadata saving for dng and other file types.

Thank you, Bob. Sooo, if I need to update the previews for well over 58,000 dng files, would I do better to simply delete the previews folder and let Lightroom make them again?  It seems it might be more time efficient.

Cmd/Ctrl+S never did update the DNG preview. It only saves the Metadata and it still works correctly, at least on my Mac.

Cmd/Ctrl+S should work fine with both proprietary raw and DNG.

What type of DNG files? And which OS? Works fine for me (Mac) using Cmd+S.
