P: Option to disable hints and tips each time I reset the preferences

The title speaks for itself.

I rather often reset LRC preferences because of some tools and behavior slowdowns and freeze. And each time I have to set my preferences again (which is already annoying) but also have to skip the hints popups which come back again and again.

Why can't we just bypass this thing with a proper option in the general preferences?

Yes and this chicken and egg question could be easily solved by unchecking a "display hints" box in the preferences panel...

Anyway I'm going to thoroughly examin the option of restarting without deleting the preferences when having tools freezing.

That's a chicken and egg question. You reset the preferences, so you also reset the option not to show tips...

I agree with others however that your real problem is that you have to reset the preferences so often. The last time I did that is many years ago...

You are right, and I sometimes restart without resetting preferences. But it seems to me that in case of serious trouble resetting preferences is more efficient.

And yes it is very annoying to have to interrupt the work because some LRC tool is getting weird...

"I sometimes encounter curious behaviors especially with the erase tool."

The next few times you're about to reset preferences, instead of resetting, just restart LR and see if problem has gone away.  I think some of the times that people report that resetting has fixed some misbehavior, it's really just the restart that you do after resetting that fixes the problem.

It's unfortunate that LR has a design defect in its preferences mechanism causing resetting to be the go-to magic spell for working around mysterious misbehavior.

I wish I have the answer to the why.
afrer long session of work, I sometimes encounter curious behaviors especially with the erase tool.
As I reset the preferences while restarting, everything is ok.
I had this tip on this very forum, where the advice was to reset preferences.

Irregular shutdowns, crashes, freezes, power outages - these are the most common causes of corrupt preferences. If that's the case, you might want to look at the underlying problem.

Preferences are rewritten on every application exit, as opposed to read-only program files.

The real question is, why do you have to reset your preferences so often? Something isn't right (I've never had to). It isn't normal for this product to 'slowdown' and freeze. Yes, deleting preferences often fixes such issues, but why are your preferences so often getting corrupted?

The other thing you can do is delete, reset as desired, then after you're sure everything is fine, back up that preference document to place it back when things get wonky.
