P: Prevent Merging from interrupting workflow

Hi Community,
Most of my work in LR involves HRD. My Typical day I have 40-50 shots of 5 shot HRD to Merge (some are Panos) My issue is that the software is unusable while the merge is happening, even on my aging system with 14 cores @ 4.5Ghz and 256GB of ram. I could be editing/exporting the previous image while the next merge is happening. This increases my editing time by a factor of 2 most nights, so if it were able to be implemented I (and others) could save 1/2 on edit time!
I understand that larger panos take longer than simple merges but at least I could be taking care of edits rather than just sitting here watching a progress bar. Great software but......

If the parameters (in this case mostly ghosting) are the same, then when accomplishing a Photo Merge HDR, you do not have to go the slow way involving bringing up a preview. (and being stuck waiting for the preview creation) You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+H, then once the merge starts, you can accomplish something else, such as another merge. Mind you, too many merges at the same time will bog the system down.

To be clear yes 200-250 images on average, sometimes as many as 600!
