P: Raw Details & Denoise For Fujifilm S3/S5 Pro Cameras

A very niche request at this point in time (more than 20 years after the release of one of these cameras) but I'd love to see Raw Details & Denoise come to the Raw files produced by the Fuji S3 and S5 pro cameras.

These cameras have spectacular sensors with wild dynamic range (even by todays standards) but the one thing they lack is resolution. While "Super Resolution" is available for these files, I find Raw Details & Denoise create more percieved detail in my images.

Thus I would be overjoyed if there was a way to make this happen for the few of us still putting these old treasures to use!

Thanks!

I tagged this as an Idea not a Bug for the purposes of asking for the feature to be added, not because I believed it already should be.

I appreciate the response, currently the option is not offered on my raw/RAF files from either of these cameras.

Researching on-line on the FinePix S3. Bring us:

  • CCD, not a CMOS Sensor
  • CCD Sensor is unique compared to other CCD sensors (Ref 1)
  • Low Pass Filter over the Sensor? Is it a BAYER ????
  • Not sure if this can be seen as a BAYER sensor (filter)
  • Defiantly not a X-TRANS Sensor
  • If not a BAYEr or a X-TRANS then the Demosaicing does not support AI-Denoise

LrC AI DeNoise will at this time only support Bayer and X-Trans RAW Sensors. (REF 2)

In addition to my earlier post I recall that there were some early problems with the new Fujifilm RAF sensor relating to RAF to DNG conversion.

Maybe another Fujifilm user would offer some advice.

Both Camera models were supported from the very first release of Lightroom in Feb 2007.

You should get the Denoise and Raw Detail if you have an original RAF file.
