P: Remember Tether Bar Position

This is going to sound very petty, but it's an annoyance that's been around for so long that it drives me crazy.

Is there a way to make Lightroom remember the position of the tether bar?

Whenever tethering is restarted, or just after waking the camera to continue a session, the tether bar moves back to it's default position. I hate it there and have to move it up to the top of the screen out of the way of the main window every time. While shooting products, I have to do this many times during a shoot and it just seems so weird to me.

Am I the only one who cares, or have I just not been able to find this in preferences?

From my testing a few minutes ago, this issue is not fixed in LrC 15.0. Four years and still not fixed.

Here's what I have found in previous testing:

It may be only a Windows problem.

The problem only occurs when dual monitors are enabled in Windows settings.

You don't need to be using dual monitors in LrC for the problem to occur, just have dual monitors enabled in Windows settings.

Disabling dual monitors in Windows results in LrC 'remembering' where the Tethered Capture bar was last positioned, i.e. it functions as expected.

I have tracked the problem to Preferences where there are multiple settings for the Tethered Capture bar's position; when dual monitors are activated in Windows, the LrC software seems to have a conflict in reading and writing these multiple settings, resulting bar's position being reset to its default position in the middle of the screen.

I have studied these settings in Preferences and observed how badly it behaves; it's as if two programmers implemented their own settings without knowing what the other had done, resulting in some sort of conflict between them.

Despite being reported, no action has been taken to fix it.

I think this might have been addressed in the latest update?

This and the "detecting camera" popup really make Lightroom feel unprofessional when using tethered workflows with clients.

It's like a few things in PS and LR. Add them, then let them flounder while spending time adding newer features.

Well, considering it looks like we're the only two who care, that might be why it'll never be fixed. 🙂

Yes! I was about to write this and found your post:

It would be nice if the bar that pops up when using tethering in LR would remember its screen location form session to session. And/or create an option to have it appear docked maybe at the bottom of the screen when tethering is selected.
