P: separate Previews.lrdata file for 1:1 previews (for offloading to external drive)

I wish I could preview and browse quickly photos in full screen, but the problem is it when I start to browse, it shows "Loading"  for a couple seconds until the photo is previewed ad full resolution. 1:1 previews helps a lot for this, but it takes too much space on local drive. So, I wis I could move 1:1 previews to external thunderbolt SSD for the moments I need this option.

I mean an option to separate Standard and 1:1 previews. Standard can be on local, 1:1 - elsewhere, as theese takes much more space. Anyway, it's just a feature request, it's not an issue.

Nope, library previews must be on the same drive, in the same parent folder as the catalog. Photos can be elsewhere, the Camera RAW CACHE can be elsewhere, but the Library previews, nope. Apparently very ingrained in the computer code.

Now, the proper question, is why your previews are giving you trouble. Perhaps if the Moderator moves this to Discussions, more members might reply.

Some questions that will be asked:

  • What is your LrC version? The exact version, current would be v13.0.1
  • What is your computer OS and version
  • What CPU Make/Model/Speed
  • How much RAM
  • What GPU make//model
  • How much GPU VRAM
  • What GPU driver version
  • Where do you keep your catalog, what hard drive, what type of hard drive
  • On the hard drive your catalog is on, how much free space in percent. Yes in percent. Needs to be at least 20, some say 25 % free.
