P: Should be able to automatically read Metadata changes made in ACR

Sure would be nice if LR Classic could automatically read metadata in XMP files created in ACR/Bridge like ACR/Bridge can read adjustment changes made in LR. It's a pain to have to force LR to read the XMP metadate for each individual file.

Why do you edit in both Lightroom Classic and ACR anyway? Both use the same raw engine and have the same feature set, so it would make sense to make your edits exclusively in Lightroom Classic to avoid this hassle.

LrC default operating procedure is to read and write from the Catalog file, while you are working with Lightroom it is reading and writing to the catalog and does need the info in the files.

If LrC was able to read automatically from the file that will create real problems because of the potential of deleting the work you did in LrC without your knowledge.

LrC is a alternative to Bridge /Camera RAW, you do not need to use both.

If you prefer Bridge / Camera Raw then that's fine use them and forget LrC.
