P: Support cataloging PSB files

Lightroom should catalog psb files, just as it does psd files. I have many psb files that are not over the 65,000 pixels per side or 512 megapixel limits, but are larger than the 4GB limit on psd files, and it would be nice to see them in Lightroom.

Now 6 years and 73 "me too"s. Come on, Adobe!

I want to remind everyone of two solutions that you should consider—purchasing the AnyFile plugin, or using Helmut Steiner's smart object solution above. If you use AnyFile on Macintosh, it is pretty straightforward to assign command-key shortcuts to its menu commands, which I have done.

I really can't believe this is still absent from Lightroom. My file sizes are only getting bigger, now I'm spending my time trying to haggle with Lightroom, "If I merge these layers will you please be under 4gb?"....weight 5 minutes for it to save a compressed zip format to cut further down on the size.... nope "Ok, I guess I can delete those layers..." repeat

Come on Adobe!!!! You can do it. PSB - support it! Or make .psd files able to be much larger than 2GB.... you can do it!

Tweeted to @AdobeCare and they directed me to make a request here.  I see that the thread started  6 years ago and the requests keep coming for this feature.  Remind me again why we're paying monthly, year after year, for software that doesn't support it's own file formats?  Very disappointing to say the least.

Could it be possible for future versions of Lightroom to include the facility for reading .psb files as I work with large 360 degrees panoramas, that are created with layers for easy editing of minor errors

This feature is long overdue with rising file sizes of modern DSLRs. Adobe wake up and start working. I keep coming back to this thread once in a year just to see that nothing changed. What are we paying the monthly bills for...
My panoramas with the D810 and a tele lens end up being 10GB plus in size. I want to catalogue them to find them in my big library and folder structure. Edits can always be made in Photoshop if need be.

For those of you interested in another workaround: I create a TIFF file with the same dimensions as the original file (works most of the time). It is set to sRGB and 8 Bit contrary to the original file which is 16bit and ProPhotoRGB. This alone saves a lot of space. Then I link the original file as a smart object. So it is rendered inside the file and you can always jump from the TIFF file to the original via the smart object.
The TIFF can then be imported to LR. No plugin needed.
