P: Time stamps for steps in the History Panel

The History panel in the Develop module is very useful for tracking editing steps, but it does not show when each step was made. When editing a photo across multiple sessions, it becomes difficult to know when specific adjustments were done.

Adding a visible date and time stamp to each history entry would make it much easier to follow editing progress and manage changes over time.

Since this information would increase the length of each history line, it would be helpful if timestamps could be shown as an optional setting that users can turn on or off, or shown on hover.

Appreciate your consideration.

Thank you all for your responses.

I agree that displaying the information on right-click or hover would work well, as long as the information is visible.

Hover over is already used to preview
Showing tooltip with the timestamp when hovering over would mean it:

1. Hides part of the step currently hovered over OR more likely another one
2. Bleeds over the image hiding it during preview

See screenshot.

Seeing a tooltip like that ALL the time we hover preview would be quite annoying.
So I think via “Right Click” is better.

This said another method could also be to display the timestamp on hover over BUT in the UI, see mockup.

Timestamp not hiding anything, not intrusive.

When not hovering over UI could instead show “current active step” timestamp. Holding shift when hovering over a timestamp would as well  “disable timestamp time” for the hovered over step and show the active one...it would allow to effortlessly se one and the other.

In any case either via Right Click or in the UI it would be a JDI to have step tiemstamp displayed.

Tooltips (on hover) would be ideal.

Some have asked for this over the years. While waiting for Adobe to implement this (if ever), you might check out this free plugin:

Unlikely will ever be done as history steps would become a mess to read.

E.g.

Exposure 0  -4 yyyy/dd/mm hh/mm/ss

What was requested is to show the Timestamp in the menu that appears when right clicking it.

A trivial JDI.
