P: Allow shared album owners to set the default sort order for viewers

I use Lightroom Cloud to maintain large shared albums that are continuously updated with new photos.

Today, shared albums always open with the default sort order of oldest to newest, and the album owner has no way to change this for viewers.

This becomes a problem with large albums because viewers are often interested in seeing the newest photos that have been added since their last visit. Instead, they have to browse through thousands of older images before reaching the latest additions.

My goal is to maintain a single, continuously growing shared album. I am not interested in splitting the content across multiple smaller albums as a workaround, since that makes browsing and managing the collection more complicated over time.

I would like Lightroom to provide a way for viewers to see the newest photos first when opening a shared album. One solution would be to allow the album owner to define the default sort order (for example, Newest to Oldest). Another would be to allow viewers to choose and persist their own preferred sort order for shared albums.

Either approach would significantly improve the browsing experience for large, continuously growing shared albums while preserving the flexibility to view the album in a different order if desired.

I’ve added my vote to your request.

In the meantime you can manually (and quite easily once the process is understood) set the display order to appear as capture date reversed (i.e. newest first) using the LrWeb browser app. The only problem is any new images added will always initially appear at the bottom of the display, meaning you would have to reset the display order every time you add new images to the album (though as I said, it’s quite a quick and easy procedure).
