P: Assign People tags to pictures that were missed

Once the indexing has been completed and Lightroom CC has found all the potential faces, it would be nice to have the ability to add People Tags to pictures that were "missed" where no faces were recognized.  The idea of People Tags is to be able to search for people and generate all potential results.  Right now it's messy because you have to resort to keyword tags to identify people that were missed with facial recognition and makes searching and cataloging a tedious task.

If that really is Adobe's target audience I think it's not exactly the audience they got. Why use Lightroom for photos you take with an iPhone? Apple Photos already integrates perfectly for pictures taken on iPhone and can do 99% of what most people want to do. You use lightroom if you have a DSLR/Mirrorless full body camera. Usually the workflow is to take the memory card and upload photos on the computer. The mobile feature is nice to have to make edits on photos you've pulled off or refer back to your library. But to keep the library organized you absolutely need people tagging capabilities.

On this aspect I waffle. When you consider that a significant aspect of the target market is more likely my kids who are phone/tablet focused; the way the People feature works does make sense. Again, I do not agree with the selected features, and I think it is kinda weak even in the implementation, but I do believe I follow the likely use case Adobe was considering.

@Timothy.SpearFair enough, I agree that was an exaggeration.  But, I would suggest the capability I'm talking about never should have been included as-is.  To me, that's an indication that the product team either doesnt' understand how users use the product...or just wanted to deliver a feature knowing it is not very useable.

I give Adobe a fair amount of grief. However, to say that nothing is being developed is not at all accurate. The release notes are public, and posted on here.

You might disagree on the priority placed on specific things (I know I do, I would rather fix facial tagging issues then a new mask feature, and I do NOT care if LrX then cannot correctly render some images sent from Classic).

The idea of being able to see an image of a person, select it, and then see all of the photos that the person is in, makes sense.  But it doesn't work that way.   It only shows photos that either identified the person automatically or identified an unknown face where you've manually specified the person.

BUT, I have 38000 images.   Easily, 25% of them have NO face detected or only some faces are.   All kinds of scenarios.  Far shots, person turned, whatever.

So if I can't use the Person view to reliably see all the photos for any particular person, why would I use it at all?  I mean I don't want to look at SOME photos of a person.  I find it perplexing that someone didn't ask the question.  It leaves me with using tags as the only way.

The problem there is, the search for Tags is also incredibly incomplete.  I mean you can't even do a boolean search with Keywords.  I'm looking for Tag X and Y.   But, instead, it jus does Tag X or Y.

And then, if you wanted to traverse from iPhone, to Web, to Desktop, forget it.   Whatever capability isn't lacking on Desktop, it is missing on one or the other (or vice versa).

This is just a hack of a product.  The price without 2TB isn't worth it, but add that, it's insane to expect that kind of cost when capabilities anyone with a brain would say it's kinda needed, are just missing.

Spent quite a bit of time tagging, but honestly about ready to find something else.  It's one thing functionality is missing, but an entirely separate one to feel that NO development is being done at all, at least that I can see.

Another update with new masking features, which I really don't care about, and nothing on adding faces. Who cares about this masking stuff? Adobe, you are missing adding in basic functionality that should have always been there.

This now has 157 up votes. Based on a sorted list of ideas; there is only one idea which ahead of this request which has not been released. And it is marked planned (custom ratios).

Adobe, if you want beta testers, let me know!

Makes sure to upvote the idea. It will eventually get more attention from Adobe (we hope)

This should be at the top of the list of features to include in the next update. You can't just offer up a machine learning feature without the user being able to override. Machine learning by its nature will always be imperfect! Please, Adobe, let us tag faces manually!
