P: Enable Full HDR Support on All Capable Devices, Including Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Hello Adobe team,

 

I'm a dedicated Lightroom Mobile user with a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which has powerful hardware and Super HDR capabilities. Despite this, Lightroom Mobile's HDR viewing and editing features are only available on select Google Pixel devices, leaving out other high-performance devices like the S24 Ultra. Given the advanced capabilities of the S24 Ultra, there is no technical reason it should be excluded from full HDR support.

 

Expanding this functionality to include more devices would enhance the experience for many users who have invested in top-tier smartphones. I hope Adobe considers updating Lightroom Mobile to enable HDR features across a broader range of supported devices.

    Yes, we want devices *added* to the list you so (un)helpfully provided with your boilerplate response. Not your fault but you still get the abuse from us frustrated users, pay it forward to your superiors and they to theirs. Adobe Max is useless shiny crap if you don't listen to user forums and their requests.

      It's ridiculous that pixels get this but their phone screen is litterslly made by Samsung

        When using the latest version of Adobe Lightroom on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, I receive the following message:

        "HDR Unavailable: High Dynamic Range display is not supported on this device. Areas of the photo brighter than SDR will not be previewed accurately."

         

        This is unexpected as the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an HDR-capable display (Dynamic AMOLED 2X with HDR10+ support). The device is updated to the latest firmware, and Lightroom is updated to the latest version as of today.

         

        Steps to Reproduce:

         

        1. Open Adobe Lightroom on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

         

         

        2. Import or edit a photo with HDR content.

         

        3. Turn "Edit in HDR mode" on

         

        4. Observe the HDR Unavailable message displayed.

         

         

        When Images are exported from lightroom, they look similar to what you see only if you enable the "Preview for SDR display" and not as they look when in "edit in HDR mode"

         

         

        Expected Behavior:

        Lightroom should recognize the HDR capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and accurately display HDR content and exported images should be HDR images.

         

        Actual Behavior:

        The app shows a message indicating HDR is unavailable, and areas of the photo brighter than SDR are not previewed accurately.

         

        Device Information:

         

        Device: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

         

        Adobe Lightroom Version: 10.1.0.0

          Hi, @spiros_7436!

          Lightroom for mobile (Android) currently supports HDR only on Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel Fold devices running Android 14. For the full list of supported devices, see the HDR-compatible devices list.

          If you’d like this feature to be prioritized for future updates, you can upvote this thread in the Ideas board.
