P: Export to Target File Size (and Auto-Calculate Max Dimensions)

PLEASE add a FILESIZE TARGET setting to the Image Export in Lightroom. I am dying slowly because I have to resample and play with the "Long Side" setting until I get to my target file size. I'd rather just type it in and get a maximum size calculated for me.

As a photographer and painter, I am also a pro level customer at artstorefronts.com (ASF). ASF requires that my images are no larger in file size than 100 decimal bytes, or 95.3674316MB (which is annoying bc they also claim to support 100MB uploads). SO, all my image exports from LR are JPG at full quality. Every time I export, I sit for MINUTES fiddling with the dimensions and this KILLS my workflow. I love the product but I REALLY REALLY feel a LOT of pain sitting and fiddling, when I could just type in the size target and let the app spit out full res images at my target file size all day. I have hundreds of images to export and have spend HOURS fiddling to meet my limits at ASF only to find I am off and have to re-export some images again.

I know I'm not the only one. Certainly not!

@Victoria Bampton LR Queen - Gosh, now I'm looking at the filesize limits on my stock image site, which are 45MB and I'm even more adamant about getting this feature in LR, as I've now got two max formats to work with for my imaging.

Fair enough, good request. And lots of people would need a much lower size.

Workaround suggestion in the meantime - if you were to export as Original & Settings, you could import them into Lightroom Classic and export from there with limit file size. You wouldn't need a subscription for LR Classic, an expired trial would be able to do that.

@Victoria Bampton LR Queen - Thanks for asking. Yes. They are huge because the camera shoots at 102MP. I shoot with a GFX100S in RAW format. To make matters more interesting, I stitch images together with that camera to make even larger composite images that are just stunning. For my collector's editions, I export to TIF and work directly with my printer.

For my website, I have a 100MB/200MP limit to the size of the images, so I am constantly trying to squeeze the images down under the limit during export. They calculate their image sizes in decimal terms, not binary. So, I end up with that weird limit around 95MB that I am forced to export to. I wish I could just send them my full scale images, but I cannot.

Out of interest, what resolution are your images if the JPGs end up over 95MB? They must be huge!

In a nutshell: Enter Target File Size (e.g. 95.3MB), Quality, Output sharpening, etc and Lightroom calculates max pixel dimensions, et viola!
