In the meantime, you can use a fairly simple workaround to get all the selected images downloaded as a batch (full resolution jpegs, quality around 80% I think). 

1. When you have all the images selected, click on the share icon on the blue bar above the grid.

2. That invokes the "ad-hoc share" function (i.e. creating an album share on the fly), so you'll see a small dialog box with the suggested name of the ad-hoc album (just a date, but you can change it if needed). Enable the "Show in albums" box so that you can find it again later when you want to delete it. Click on Save.

3. That opens the new album into the grid with the Share & Invite dialog already open, and the share URL already generated. Select the Settings tab and ensure you enable Downloads and optionally Metadata and Location info.

4. Then click directly on the URL, not the Clipboard icon. That will open the album in a new browser window in the "Viewer mode", i.e. the view that another user/client would see if you sent them to link to the shared album. And in that mode, when you click on the tri-dot icon next to your avatar top right you will see a "Download Photos" option. Clicking on that will download a zipped folder containing full-resolution jpegs of the complete ad-hoc album's contents.

5. When done, delete the ad-hoc album.
