I am a new user of Lightroom and noticed that LR does not pernit wildcards like ? and * as usual in lots of other search applications.

Why not?

Interesting, I tested whole words when I replied. e.g. my last name, first name. This found all my friends with the same first name, or just my last name found all images with a family member. I then tested again using the word from a location (lake), it found all the lakes I have been too. Lastly repeated the test with keywords.

I never tested partial words, and yeah you are right. Partial words do NOT work.

You need to change this to an idea instead of a question. And get people to vote for it. Make sure you register your own vote for it.

I do not - or you do not understand my problem Timothy ...

I have a keyword "zonsopgang" ( FYI = sunrise).

The corresponding photo's will not appear in case I type <zon> or <zon*> [without the brackets of course].

In other words: I will have to type the exact keyword <zonsopgang> in order to find the photo I am looking for.

Maybe I missed something?

Because by default all searches are wildcard.
