P: The ability to turn off address suggestions in metadata

I use LR Desktop/Cloud purely as a place to showcase photos that have already been populated with metadata and edited in Classic. It would be extremely desirable if my painstakingly filled-in location metadata were not automatically replaced. Particularly since a) the language of the entry is changed: my place named in Germany are filled in in German, etc, and in the cloud they are all converted to English, the language in which I use the program and b) Desktop/Cloud changes all of the 3rd level locations in Germany, France, Italy and Spain (could be more, I’m not sure) from the “State” to the “Region”. Kind of like changing “California” to “Stanislaus County”. Not desired behavior.

I don’t think I would want to see the address look-up turned off in LrD, but I agree that I would prefer to see full syncing of ALL four of the location fields between LrC and the cloud. My current workflow will typically see me enter the GPS data in LrC, and that will usually see me disagreeing with the resulting automatic address look-up suggestions from Google Maps for fields 3 and 4 (field 2 - City - is usually OK), so I will manually enter my preferences in those 2 fields for every image.

At the moment, only GPS coordinates and the first location field (called sublocation in LrC) syncs to the cloud, so that means that the same address look-up feature in LrD will populate fields 2 to 4 with the same suggestions that were made in LrC. But only field 2 (City) is usually correct, so that means I have to make the same manual adjustments for fields 3 and 4 in LrD, after already making those same changes in LrC.

I’ll run into an even worse situation if I try to make my locations changes in LrD first, as from limited testing only GPS data will sync to LrC, the sub/location field entered in LrD does not appear to sync to LrC, so after syncing the GPS coordinates I will have to confirm the suggested City in field 2, then make the same manual changes for fields 3 and 4.

It would be so much better to have full syncing of all the location data, rather that the current limited partial syncing. It’s great pity that having finally implemented full keyword syncing we’re still not there on full metadata syncing (i.e. for location data and colour labels)
