Setup

  • Photoshop on the web (Beta) Version 202206.12.0
  • macOS Monterey 12.4 (MacBook Air, M1 2020)
  • Microsoft EdgeVersion 103.0.1264.51 (Official Build) (arm64)
  • Google ChromeVersion 103.0.5060.114 (Official Build) (arm64)

Description of Problem

The word "toggle" is used in all the tooltips for the four action buttons in the Taskbar:

  1. Toggle layers
  2. Toggle layer properties
  3. Toggle comments
  4. Toggle info

The Spectrum Design System explicity says the word "toggle" should be avoided.

Furthermore, as these are icon-only action buttons, the tooltip for each button should be the text that would have been used for the button's label (as per the advice in the Spectrum Design System guidelines).

Suggestion

Rewrite the tooltips so they become simply:

  1. Layers
  2. Properties
  3. Comments
  4. Document info

This has the following benefits:

  1. It is quicker to read what the function is for each button is.
  2. The most important word is capitalized for three of the action buttons.
  3. The tooltips match the heading for each of their respective panels.
