Is there a way to align layers in photoshop on the iPad? Seems like there should be as it is impossible to Center anything.

Good question—alignment on iPad can definitely feel a bit hidden compared to desktop 👍 selecting multiple layers and using the Move tool is the key step, and the trick of including the background layer to center something on the canvas is especially useful. It might also help to mention snapping and guides for more precise placement when alignment options feel limited. I’ve been exploring simple tools that help keep things organized and structured in daily workflows, and came across this resource as well: gsm neo frp tools— different use case, but still a nice example of keeping things clear and easy to manage.

Select layer(s) → Move tool → use top Align icons → choose horizontal/vertical center.

If it’s missing, make sure multiple layers or an active selection is selected.

Yes, you can align layers in Photoshop on the iPad, but the options are a bit more limited compared to the desktop version.

To align layers, first select the Move Tool. Then select the layers you want to align from the Layers panel (you can multi-select by tapping and holding a layer and choosing additional ones). Once multiple layers are selected, alignment options such as Align Left, Center, Right, Top, Middle, and Bottom should appear in the tool options.

If you're trying to center an object on the canvas, one workaround is to select both the object layer and the background layer, then use the center alignment options.

Keep in mind that the iPad version of Photoshop still doesn’t include every desktop feature yet, so some alignment workflows can feel different. Adobe continues to update the app, so more layout tools may be added in future updates.

Very disappointing. I've been waiting years for the align feature, patiently waiting. We need Competition in this space, Adobe's too big. No longer listens to its customers.

I found out that most things are available in the desktop version, which comes free with the ipad subscription. No use if you dont have access to a desktop/laptop, though.

hi Ethan,

It’s actually the opposite. When you subscribe to the desktop version, it includes the iPad. When you subscribe through Apple for the iPad version, it does not include the desktop version.

I literally just got PS for my iPad, was just playing with it a little bit to see how it worked.. one of the first things I went to do was to center a text layer.

...Nope! Are you serious? Centering / aligning has to be one of the first things PS ever did!

I am shocked to learn that this is not supported. What the !%&@???
