Photoshop for iPad is useless without rulers and guides. How this so complicated for Adobe to add such a basic feature for many years is beyond my comprehension.

  • Honestly iOS iPad is barely worth using. There are so many basic features missing like the pen tool, numeric scale, shapes, gradient circle, other linear gradient options like adding more stoppers, colours etc, rulers

I need the ruler tool, grids and guides, to be able to print my work to correct scale. Please add!

Users have been wanting this for at least 4 years.  Posting essentially the same concern, only 8 minutes apart, can cause a bit of confusion, I'm going with this post and ignoring the other one.
Currently there is no way to add a built-in grid or rulers to Photoshop for iPad. While these features are available on the desktop version of Photoshop, the iPad app lacks native support for them. You can only get an approximate idea of dimensions using the selection tool and layer properties, or by creating your own visual grid as a separate image layer.

Workarounds for the Photoshop iPad App:

  • Use a dedicated grid image:Create a grid in desktop Photoshop and save it as a PNG image. Then, import this image into your iPad project as a new layer to use as a visual reference.
  • Use the Ruler Tool from another app:You could use a different app, like the iOS-based Affinity Designer, which supports on-screen rulers, to find the exact dimensions you need.

Wish I could say "do this" and you get rulers, but currently it aint  a gonna happen.

You are not the only one to express a concern about this.

Whoops, I;m not the OP, I've just been on this thread for so long I thought I was. Anyway, use procreate. Adobe doesn't care about any of us.

I'm the OP. I gave up on this feature a long time ago and moved to Procreate, and I encourage you to do the same if you're looking for a reasonably priced iPad design software.

I've spent years in the 2D drawing and animation community and have always wondered why no one talks about Photoshop for mobile, and now I know why. There isn't even a Ruler tool? I have my subscription because I need it for college as an Arts and Technology major, but working on Desktop just isn't always practical. I'll have to find some other app to use on my iPad 😕😕 Can't believe this has gone unaddressed for so long.

I've installed Photoshop on my iPad 13. The app works perfectly, but I don't have the ruler tool. Also, when I use my Apple Pencil, I should be able to create straight lines by double-tapping the screen, but nothing seems to work. Are you having the same problem? Has anyone found a solution? Thanks for helping

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
