Option to ignore existing paths while drawing with Pen/Curvature tools
When drawing a new path with the Pen or Curvature tool, Illustrator automatically interacts with existing paths when the cursor gets close to their endpoints or segments, attempting to continue, join or edit them.
I would like an option, preferably available both as a persistent setting and/or a temporary modifier key, that forces the Pen and Curvature tools to ignore all existing unlocked paths and create only a new independent path.
Currently, the only reliable workaround is to lock the existing artwork or layer before drawing, then unlock it afterwards. This unnecessarily interrupts the workflow, especially when tracing or drawing new shapes very close to existing paths.
Suggested behavior: “Ignore existing paths while drawing”. While enabled, existing paths should remain visible but completely non-interactive for the Pen and Curvature tools.
