FrameMaker

Even though I have the latest version of Illustrator, my external graphic illustrator does not. So I have continued to use Illustrator CS6 to edit my imported vector images, which are eps format.Recently, something in FM changed (probably an update from Adobe) so that it now opens Illustrator 2015 when I double click the eps image. This only occurs in FM (still using FM10). My Windows file manager still has it's file association with my desired version of Illustrator.I searched the maker.ini file for Illustrator and the eps file extension but they all seemed to be related to imports.Any ideas where I can associate the executable of the "Edit with Illustrator" command to the version I want?

Hi,(FM2015, Windows 7, structured documents)I have yet to figure out how to get automatic runaround (or better yet, automatically-adjusted line spacing) for an "At Insertion Point" anchored frame. Is this possible? See the sample pic... the anchored frames always overlay any surrounding content. Can this be fixed? The runaround properties of the graphic inside don't seem to change anything. Dear All,  Can we translate document having an extension as .Fm or .MIF from English to Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian languages by using Adobe FrameMaker Software.  Is there any procedure available within FrameMaker Software  to convert the English language into multiple languages. I am trying to search the solution from the last two day, but unable to find it.   Still Searching for a solution.

In order to automate the generation of customised user document (PDF) by enabling Ditaval-based filtering based on the item code. We need to launch FrameMaker and run the script by passing arguments such as Source (containing Ditamap, Topics, images), Ditaval file and output path for PDF on command line to generate customised document (PDF).

Every time I've tried to explore Adobe products I get discouraged because the written material and video clips are confusing. I tried using Photoshop on a trial basis once and could not even get into creating something simple - it is not intuitive at all.Now, I am exploring the possibility of adopting a program to import all our training manuals and PowerPoint presentations in order to make updated versions and create new material. The ease of use and confidence is not flowing toward me with FrameMaker even though the website and YouTube videos trash Microsoft Word. Who's going to convince me that I should pursue FrameMaker?Joe

I just upgraded to Technical Communication Suite 2015. I had previously created a RoboHelp project in RH11 from imported FM12 books/files. I would now like to reverse import the entire project back into FrameMaker 2015 since it can now generate Responsive HTML. My main goal is to maintain the RH11 look and feel of the generated HTML help.My initial attempt did not quite work. I exported the *.slz file from my RH 11 project and imported it into the FM 2015 file. The result has extra images that were not part of the original RH11 generated HTML, including browse sequence buttons not used in the RH11 project.Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm editing my HTML mapping table and drawing a blank. What's the asterisk after H entries in the Elements column? Must every H entry be followed by an asterisk? Thanks, Karen

Hi,FM12 all patched up Windows 8.1.I want to have the RGB color #2E74B5 to select from. I have tried this to no success (see the video):Click View > Color Definitions.Select New Color from the Name list.Name the color.Set the color to RGB.Enter my color value 2E74B5.The color I want shows in the New area, whereas black shows in the current area.Whether I click Create, Update, or Done, my color doesn't get applied and my new color is black.Thoughts?Cheers,Sean

I know use Webworks (ePublisher, $750 per year) or RoboHelp (have it as part of TCS) but what I want is only HTML with CSS from FrameMaker (without Javascript and stuff). So, am looking at Save as HTML.When I save as HTML from FM 12 (part of TCS5, everything is patched up), my bulleted lists are borked. I use HTML setup correctly, the reference page (not show) seems fine, and the CSS seems to omit list-style-type, but adding it does not fix anything (CSS shown is directly from FM unedited by me).My second-level bullets seem to be okay, but my top-level bullets, plus third level bullets, are not. Probably, this is because these styles use a Wingdings character (t for top-level bullets) in FrameMaker. How do I remove the letter "t" from my HTML output and, instead, apply a bullet? I don't care if it's different than a standard bullet.Thoughts?Cheers,Sean

I have a client who currently uses MS Word, and they want to convert their documents to FM. We will be using FM 11.In their current document, some headings and text have dotted line boxes around either the entire heading (like a new subject) or around certain words in a paragraph (like calling out a button).Is there anyway to duplicate that affect in FM without having to manually draw the box around each instance? Can a tag be created that would allow the writer to select "Heading with Box" tag, and have the dotted box show along with a line of text inside the box to input the heading title?And is there a way to create a tag that I could apply to a few words in a paragraph that would apply a dotted box around on those words I selected?

(FM12 on Win7)Quite bizarre. Anyone got a trailhead for this? FM12 spontaneously stops accepting the letter u (or the uppercase, U), from the keyboard that I am using to type this post. So the keyboard works, Win7 works, and the browser works.Restarting FM12 does not seem to solve the problem.Rebooting Win7 might work. I'll try that next.

Hi,I have run into this problem of late. The TOC links in FM 11 work fine (Ctrl-Alt) but when converted to pdf the links are not working at all.I use Adobe PDF reader XI for generating the pdf.Please ler me know where I could be going wrong.Thanks,Rads

FrameMaker 12, unstructured: I am considering using two-column pages in my book. Some of figures (and tables, too) require width of full two columns. For these wide figures I'd like to make a figure heading that is located below a figure and that have text frame width of full two columns. If I use a two column wide anchored text frame I get the heading text right but automatic numbering of the figure headings would not work because text frame is outside body text flow. I could maybe use a customized master page, split text flows on body pages or other own inventions. Now I am using numbering format for figure headings "F:Figure <n+>. " and auto numbering is working correctly across the book in single column pages. But, let's ask now from more experienced FM users, what is the recommended method to make this kind of wide figure headings on two column pages and simultaneously keeping automatic figure heading numbering working across the whole book?

Framemaker 12, unstructured: I have a book file with several chapters in separate files. I also have a template file that is used to control all content files in my book. In this template file, I have the Running H/F 2 system variable on the header on a master page. Idea is to show heading 1 -level chapter name in a header of each page. I use File/Import/Formats command with all selections tagged to import all common settings from my template file to each book file. All files use single sided page layout with right master page only.For some reason, most of the book files do not show running chapter name in header. Few files do show it correctly. What might be the problem here? All files should have been prepared in similar method. How I could ensure that all pages do show running header names?
