FrameMaker

Hello,I have just installed FM 2015, and my first question is, how do I resize the pods that are stuck along the sides (and sometimes the bottom) of the application window? I like the idea of having everything in one place, but for example, on the right is the list of catalogs (paragraph, character, tables, etc). It is much too wide, and it wastes valuable space that I would like to have for the document.I read that I could just float all the pods, but I'd like to try it this way first. I checked Preferences, and also the help files, but although there were some ways to configure the placement of the pods, I didn't see anything about resizing them to make more space for other elements.Platform: Windows 8Thanks...

I have a Folder Called Parent.Inside PARENT folder, I have an FM file called CHAPTER1.FM and a sub-folder Child.Inside the CHILD folder I have a PDF file called ABCD.PDF.How can I add a link or Cross-Reference to PDF file into the Framemaker???Thanks you.

In FrameMaker 12.0.4, we'd like to automate (or semi-automate) entering the Table Continuation variable in all table titles.By making the Next paragraph property of the Table Title paragraph a new 'graf (called Table Title Continued), and making the table title 'graf a run in, we get two 'grafs in the table title frame, one with the table number and the text of the title, and the second with null text and the string "cont.".The question is, can we do it? Manually keyboarding "<$Table Continuation>" into the Autonumber format field does not seem to work. It may not even be possible.TX & all the best

I don't think I count as a dinosaur myself … but perhaps a dinosaur-herder; to put it another way, some of my documents are intended for delivery only as .pdf, not some new-fangled .html help.Which being so – what are the pros and cons for using .psd graphics for screenshots rather than .png, apart from the fact that PhotoShop is head and shoulders above the other bitmap graphics tools I have access to? I'll stick with Illustrator and .eps for vector graphics, of course.Thanks in advance for points to consider.

I have a book with multiple files that are one page each (different languages). I have the pagination set to Delete empty pages in both the book and the files. I do have Double-sided pages selected because I need the page number to move right or left depending on where the files lands. But every time I update within the book, some files revert to two pages. It's driving me crazy. Any suggestions?

I understand the role of a DTD, Schema, the strucapps file set, etc.But I understand Webworks can read structure and simply output the tags with content, as they come up in the document.We have tons of Inclusions and Exclusions, but they still work. I think WebWorks is not compatible with FMv12.What is out there that will do this?Thanks,Dave

Is there a way to adjust the space below an anchored frame when I insert using run into paragraph? Here is what I've got going on-I have a small section of text and I am putting in a graphic next to it. I use the "run into paragraph" anchoring position. For the next step, I have another small section of text with the same type of graphic. When I insert the anchored frames, they are both stacked on top of each other. I would like to put a space between these two frames.The space between will be used to add a line of text for a figure tag (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3 etc.) My work around was to adjust the line spacing between the two lines the frames are anchored to. My co-worker said this was a sloppy way to do it, and not correct. Of course he has no solution either and it just so happens that he can't remember the correct way right now. It's probably something super easy, and I'm just making it more difficult!Thanks!

Just interested if anyone is using this product to make pdfs from FrameMaker.  My company is considering using it, and I can't find much information out there beyond very high-level reviews.

I missed the recent(ish) webinar on using the FM graphics tools, which may have answered this question …I need to present some information as shown, and I'm finding it very tricky to a) anchor; b) adjust the graphic if I try and do it inside FM. While it's easier to tweak the final .pdf in Illustrator, this is (of course) far from ideal in terms of maintenance and future-proofing: but if I create the graphic as an .eps in Illustrator, I can't work out how to put it behind the text in the table cells. Hints and tips welcome!

Author, Title, Subject, and Keywords from FrameMaker's File Info are automatically generated into the Acrobat Properties when you create a PDF. We would like to generate the Copyright information as well to avoid having to enter it manually into Additional Metadata each time. Does anyone know a setting or a hack that will accomplish this? I've created a document in FM12. It's TOC translates reasonably well to the Contents tab of the chm file.How do I specify terms to be searchable in the Help file?The FM12 file has no Index. (I don't know if that matters!) I tried selecting a word and giving it an Index Marker, but it didn't wind up searchable in the chm file.Thanks in advance for any help (bad pun - sorry!)Tom Burton

Greetings All,     I am writing a small book, which is nearly done, ready for publication, except.... that any new type turns green.  The previous type stays black.  I can delete the green type.  If I try to delete the black type, it turns red with a line through it.  But editing is impossible.  I cannot make any rational changes to the text.      This weird thing happened to me some years ago, but I do not recall what the solution was.   Any ideas out there?  The problem seems to be a corruption in the file because I can edit other files with the software.     So what can I do to save the text so that it is editable?  I am guessing that what I will have to do is removed the text from FM, strip the text of all formatting, hopefully getting a plain text result to strip out the problem, plug the text back in, and reformat.     Any other shorter way that will not lo

I am using Framemaker 12 to create documentation, which must be 508-compliant. When I run the "Full Check", a consistent error that results is the 'Summary - Failed'. Is there a way to prevent this error by creating tables in the source (Frame) a specific way?

I have a layout of 3 columns, with tables in each column. In the first column, the top of the table is one space lower than those in the other columns, due to the text symbols appearing on the first line.

HiIn FM 2015 when I publish to Responsive HTML call outs appear as boxes.Any idea what might be causing this?ThanksJohn

It looks as though the release in the 2015 version is not compatible with Frame 12.  I need to either subscribe to 12 or get a trial version.  I tried downloading the 2015 and when I tried to open a document on site (I work from home), it was not compatible with the version that Disney uses.

I have 258 shades of gray (shown as every variation of RGB values)  listed in my color pallet and don't know how to get rid of them. They are in many files in my book file. Deleting them through Color Definitions at the book and/or file level doesn't work. Anyone with some advice?
