Hello all,I've hit a snag with my current FMS project and Im hoping someone out there might be able to help.I have a working FMS server with two applications:I'm trying to get application 2 to connect to application1.I can connect to app1 if i write up a quick client in as3... i CANT seem to connect from FMS server side code in app2. ( which is what I require )What am I doing wrong? Is there something on the server that I need to configure to allow this?Do I need to specify something in one of the app's Application.xml files?Thank you for taking the time to read this post, code is below:other info: my development server url looks like this: fms.internal.companyname.com my netConnection.uri is simply "rtmp://fms.internal.companyname.com/app1" running Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 server is working. I can use live / vod / and some other custom app
I am running FMS 3.5.2 on Windows Server 2008. The server only has 40GB free. Is it possible to store media on an external drive connected to the FMS? Then have my http or rtmp requests go to the external. Am I making sense? I'm sure there is a script to accomplish this, but I am afraid it will degrade the media files.
I was told by my FMS host that even though FMEL can create multiple streams at different bit rates I could not send them. I need to use a different entry point for every stream which meant a different encoding machine for each rate.Is this in fact true? Thanks
Sorry for my lack of ignorance but any help would be gratefully recieved. My company has built a multiplayer game using FMS 3.5.2 and Flash 10. Players login in teams of four and have to be in the game all the time. If a player disconnects all four disconnect. We are experiencing a lot of disconnect and we think it is due to the 1 second polling setting as the issue is worse on the internet using WiFi rather than wired and does n't exist on internal corporate intranets.Does this sound likely? What other information would you need to be able to help? Is there anything else we can try to stabilise the game further. Thanks in anticipationRichard
I'm currently working as part of team of developers and we've run into an issue with our FMS project. In our site the user is able to record video of themselves which is turned into flvs and stored by the FMS. These videos are played back at a later time. The site works fine but intermittently stops recording new videos or streaming previously recorded videos. The only solution at this point is to restart the server. The server logs show that the onDisconnect event handler is running when users terminate their sessions and we can see that the number of active connections does not appear to be exceeding the limit on the server. There are no runtime errors to indicate that anything has gone wrong. From looking at output from the app it just seems like the publish and unpublish event handlers stop running but nothing actually breaks. The user doesn't realize anything is wrong until they try to watch their videos only to get a blank screen. We're wondering if perhaps it is a garbage collecti
Hi,I have seen in previous discussions that FMS supports NAS storage solutions by using network mapping and UNC paths.I would like to know if FMS supports Windows DFS (Distributed Filesystem) by using DFS namespaces. Thanks in advance.
Hi,the fms 3.5 was just installed on my server and I wanted to have a folder where I'll have my fla videos in my Members folder (which requires login) and another one outside of the Members folder (which could be accessed by anyone). In some parts the fms manual says that the fms has ierarchy of adaptors, a vhosts or applications which could be duplicated as many times as needed, so I assumed that my originally created fms-vod folder could be simply duplicated where I want it within my physical server. It looked to me in the manual that the fms.ini file from the conf folder shows path to a duplicated folders I want, so, I located that file in one of the fms folders (somehow I have 2 fms folders at the root of my server: one of them is a shortcut from the installation location and the other one is the folder to which I uploaded the application for the installation, but only one of them had that fms.ini file), but when I tried to add the suggested in the manuals l
Hi,I'm trying to use SharedObjects to manage some state between my server and clients, and am having a lot of trouble understanding the documentation and can't find any examples that work. Here is what I'm trying to do:1. Create a shared object on my server in an application instance running on my FMS.2. Allow clients to receive updates to the state of this shared objects.Could someone simply show me the relevant api calls that will allow me to:1. Create a shared object on my server instance.2. Set up the proper calbacks so that a client can receive updates to this object.I suspect that the number of lines involved to accomplis this is < 10, but the examples I've found in the documentation produce compilation errors.Thank you so much.
Hello i i have been searching throughout forums looking for an easy effecitve way to set up authenication between Flash media interactive server and flash media live encoder such that we dont have any rogue publishers. I see alot of people talking about the fact that it can be done but have yet to find a document or post that outlines the modules needed and procudures to make work. Does anyone have a good link that outlines this or document locaiton i can reference. Thanks in advanceScott
Hi everyone, I've been searching high and low for a guide on how to do this and I can't find anything. Hopefully someone here will be able to help. Here's what i'm looking to do... I want to have a website where users can record short video clips (using a webcam) and then have those videos saved on the FMS for viewing later. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've seen a lot about streaming video, but I actually want to save the video. Thanks!
Hi everyone,I've just been asked to create a video player which automatically chooses the correct bitrate video to stream by detecting the bandwidth.I have no experience creating a video player so I'm looking for links/resources to do some research on the topic.Has anyone here created a video player in Flash? Would it be better to create in Flash or Flex?Once again, I have no prior knowledge in this type of creation and could use an experienced developer's opinion on what the first step is towards progress.ANY information on this is greatly appreciated.Kind regards,Dey
Hi Guys,I have Flash Media Server, and I think it's free edition coz i dont input serial number when i installed it..I have problem to have people stream from my pc, there's a public IP address assigned/mapped to a development PC here..I'm able to stream it locally from my computer, fyi, my computer is using windows XP and the development PC is using windows 2003 server..and there's an apache webserver already installed there..my questions are as follow (sorry if it's many)1. if i dont install the apache server bundled with the FMS, is it okay? I dont intend to stream through port 80...2. what is the difference between port 1935 and 19350? I saw 2 files in the FMS directory, namely fms.ini and Adaptor.xmlin fms.ini it binds to 1935, but in adaptor.xml it binds to 19350...3. in adaptor.xml there one value like this:<HostPort name="edge1" ctl_channel="localhost:19350">${ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT}</HostPort>there's an explanation in above it that it binds to some ip we configure here,
How or can I configure a network camera (Toshiba IK WB15A) to stream/broadcast to my flash media server 3.51? Thanks in advance?
I've setup a simple DVR player using the DVRCast application and Adobe FLVPlayback 2.5 from Adobe tools. I'm able to use it to play a recorded live stream which is recorded by Flash Media Live Encoder.I'm wandering if I can now use the DVR player to play a video within the vod application? To start with I just want to copy the f4v file created by Live Encoder to the vod directory and then use the DVR player to play it.
Hi,playing the fms demo video does not download it into a temporary file like youtube does, so I could click on the timeline at the previous part or at the part show that it is already downloaded, and it will play it right away. Instead of that it plays a real time straming. How can I switch my server's settings to broadcast in the youttube style? Thank you. Anna
Hello,Is it possible to listen to ProgressEvent when streaming?I want to display the buffer progress by listening to the NetStream ProgressEvent, but the event does not dispatch...Any help is greatly appreciated.Niusaul
I have Flash Media Server 2 set up with a simple bandwidth detection application (with serverside code), and a videoplayer application (no serverside code). I have upgraded to Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 and have managed to successfully get video to stream using the basic examples on the startup screen both locally and from another machine. However, when I try and connect to either the bandwidth detection application, or the videoplayer I get the error message:NetConnection.Connect.Rejected[ Server.Reject ] : (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Application (**my appname**/) is not a valid signed application; loading access denied.I saw another post in this forum saying that for custom applications you need Flash Media Interactive Server instead of Streaming Server. This worries me as I'm quite far down this route now and don't want to tell my boss that actually we need to find another £2k to make this a viable solution! But looking at the credenti
Hello all,I'm having problems playing remote live streams from FMS (server-side) that I can play with any other player (client-side)Example of server-side application which plays a remote live stream:nc = new NetConnection();nc.connect("rtmp://remoteserver/live");stream = Stream.get("localStream");stream.play("remoteStream.flv", -1, -1, true, nc); This code works only sometimes. Most of the times, FMS is able to connect to remote string and the localStream dispatches events: NetStream.Publish.Strart NetStream.Play.ResetIn this case, FMS is publishing the local stream but it is not playing the remoteStrem on it.The rest of the times, localStream dispatches events: NetStream.Publish.Strart NetStream.Play.Reset NetStream.Play.Start NetStream.Data.StartIn this case FMS plays the remoteStream correctly.Any hint to solve this issue?Regards.
Hi I want to know one things, is there any other settings required to publish the swf file for playing mp4 file in mobile browser also. Hi All,Is there a tutorial for developing a Flash Video Player which expands on clicking? You can refer the videos embedded on facebook. They appear in smaller player but when clicked expand to fit the content.thanks for providing me with some samples/tutorials.Mushtaq
I really hope this makes sense! What we are currently doing:We have an on-site box that's taking a video feed from a webcam, and encoding with Flash Media Encoder. It's currently sending the stream to Flash Media Server on the same machine to serve the stream (rtmp://localhost).What I want to do:The on-site machine doesnt have very much upstream bandwidth to spare, so I would like to stream from an off-site dedicated machine with better upstream. So in other words:On-Site machine (with Flash Media Encoder) ---> Send to off-site dedicated box (to Flash Media Server)Here's an example that demonstrates my question:Let's say that I already have my on-site computer and off-site dedicated server set up. The dedicated server is serving the flash stream to the website. In this example, 10 end users are all trying to watch the stream at once. Each stream is 200 Kbps, so the total bandwidth demand on the dedicated machine is 2000 Kbps (or 2 Mbps). Is the dedicated machine going to be able to s
HiI would like to know the number of connection allowed in the free developer ediiton of Flash Media ServerRegardsSunny
recently, i found that 'streamtransport' makes use of IE browser to capture rtmp/rtmpe/rtmps transport data stream. how is Adobe's suggestion to bypass this s/w?
Thank you very much for you efforts ...I've tested an exciting tutorial about streaming live video with Flash Media Server 3.5..every thing went good and i could see my webcam broadcast from my machine through my web site but unfortunately I can't see it from any other machineI'm using Microsoft windows XP SP2and flash media live encoder 3but my web server run UNIX is this a problem???Please send me feedback if its possible thank you very much
Hi,I'm trying to get an external script to communicate with an application instance running on my Flash Interactive Media Server installation.I've got the following server side actionscript in my AppStart():this.socket = new XMLSocket("test");this.socket.onXML = function(object) { trace("got xml!");};this.socket.connect(null, 16005);The connection to an open socket on the localhost, port 16005 works fine, but when I try to write some xml to the socket that I accepted the connection on (running on the localhost), I never seem to get the onXML or onData callbacks on the server application instance. One question that I had was regarding the NULL byte. If the FMS application doesn't not receive the NULL byte, does that mean the callback won't happen? If so, can someone tell me how to take something like a Python string and *add* a NULL byte so that the FMS will invoke the proper onXML or onData callback when this data is sent? Thanks.
