We were using FMS2 for a while and recently switched to 3.0.2, ever since then our video is being really choppy. The config files changed quite a bit so we are unsure if we missed settings somewhere or what. Our stream used to be extremely smooth. We are using on2 vp6 for our streaming, we use stream from digital rapids and we push 2 streams up 512k and 350k. The network checked out fine from our streaming location. We currently have 1 origin and 2 edge servers. Anything you guys can point us towards would be great. EDIT: We noticed a better stream going back to FME, from Streams. We are calling Streams on Monday to see if its a version issue since we switched to FMS3.
I want do a application record camera from DVR Card( Not Webcam). so can do? DVR Card http://www.dvrcards.com/cards.htm Thank you?
FMS dies immediately after starting the services. Checking top shows that fmsmaster stays running but fmscore, fmsadmin, fmsedge all die a couple of seconds after they appear and there is no real error logging. I'm running Ubuntu Linux 7.04 and installing FMS 3.0.1r123 in development mode. Using Ubuntu patch from http://www.bluetwanger.de/blog/2008/02/11/flash-media-server-3-on-ubuntu-710-gutsy/ Thanks to this post http://www.ecinteractive.co.uk/blog/?p=25 and it's comments I used ldd on the various packages to show all the dependencies are satisfied. I found I had the same issue mentioned there where libasneu.so.1 was not loading so I followed the comment and the dependency error went away. I've also read the http://www.adobe.com/go/c533ee36 support topic and that isn't the issue. I'm no guru so here is all the info I've been able to gather. - Starting FMS in console mode: # ./fmsmaster -console Adobe Flash Media Server (Master)Console mode. Host: host.net IPv4: 209.135.140.2

I am running FMS3 on a From the server log Tue 08:58:21 AM: Core (4008) connection to admin accepted. Tue 08:58:22 AM: (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Application (HelloWorld) is not a valid signed application; loading access denied. I created a folder in the applications directory and named it HelloWorld and moved the swf and html files to the web server. I also return a similar error when running the HelloServer application. How do I go about running this or any other application?
I'm seeing Live streams in FMS Manager that seem to be left over from disconnected clients, and don't go away until the application closes. I have the normal pairs of publishing streams and live streams (we're streaming the microphone from one user to another.) When we disconnect a client most of the streams go away, but some hang around, and it seems like it's usually from Firefox. So one of the phantom streams looks like this: Name: u1 Type: Live Stream Data: (blank) Is there any way to get rid of these when the client that was publishing disconnects?
Hello 😃 im having a problem runing FMS with RedHat 4, when i try to connect to a VOD or a LIVE video with this server, the connection takes awhile (around 15-30 secs) but once its connected, i can rewind and forward very nicely, so im kinda wondering whats happening with the connection process, here is the video im talking bout: http://201.117.193.79/canal9/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=46&Itemid=61 The rest of my videos is on a FMS with Windows Server 2003 and i have no problems with em. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!!
Hi all, I've a problem with rtmpt protocol on latest release of FMS. There's a huge traffic on our server and suddenly we receive: Edge disconnected from Core (995) Core disconnected from Edge Core (8714) is no longer active. Then Core and Edge entities can't restart. Could you help us to understand this fact, because our server disconnect all clients then doesn't work anymore. Jeho
I created a fla with a little bit of action script to test our new FMS3 server. I use Adobe CS3 on a MAC. Everything works fine, the server sees the client etc. When I try to open the same file on another computer (Windows) I only see the buttons for pause and play, but no video/audio. What is wrong?
Hello, I am new to Flash Media Server. I have FMS v2 installed and running. I have a flash application that posts some data (tracking information) to the FMS Server whenever a user tries to play anything using the flash application. The flash app sends data on port 80. This used to work till recently when we did a server move and after that it stopped working. I dont see any errors anywhere. Log files, event viewer, everything is clean. The FMS server is running on a specific IP and the ports 80, 1111 and 1935 are opened up. I dont see clients in the FMS admin console. Does that mean the client connection is getting rejected? Or does that mean that the flash application is not even connecting to the Flash Media Server? How do I troubleshoot the connection issue? I am kind of lost because, there are no errors on the server side but the clients do not show up! Please advise. Thanks, Satya
Getting an error when running the installFMS script: ERROR: Your distribution, unknown, is not supported by this Adobe Flash Media Server installer. It's not clear to me whether it means the FMS distribution, or the OS distribution. Anyone installing on RHEL5?
I am playing flv clips using server-side action script so all clients see the same content at the same time regardless of when a client connects. When I did this in my lab enviroment it seemed to work correctly. Now I have deployed the solution to a production quality server and have found that is playing recorded flv’s faster than there recorded time. For example, I have 60 second clip that FMS is playing the clip in about 6 seconds. Is there away to control how fast FMS plays a recorded video? Basically, I want the server to play the video in real time. Thanks, Kevin
In FMS3 the main file is in .far format in the vod directory. In the samples directory it is .asc. What am I supposed to do with it?

I thought it was because I was placing the files in the wrong folder but that didn't seem to be the problem. How can I test the connection using the sample.flv that installed by default? My systems admin swears the firewall is open etc. etc. etc. but we are running FMS3 on a Windows 2003 server and he's a novell admin so he said he could be missing something there. Any help would be great!

./fmsmgr server fmsadmin start Server:fmsadmin command:start ./fmsmgr: line 115: cd: fms: No such file or directory NPTL 2.3.4 Starting Adobe Flash Media Server (please check /var/log/messages) HELP ME?
I have an application that works fine in FP 9 with FMS 1.5/2/3 through IE and Firefox, but when I upgraded to FP10, my connection is getting rejected. When I run the application locally (no browser), it works fine in FP10, so there must be a new security restriction. I cannot get the connection locally (through a browser) or when I test it on the web (I have the SWF's on one domain and I have the application on Influxis). I'd greatly appreciate any help on this! -jonathan
Hello, I'm running FMS 3 on: root@host fms]# cat /etc/redhat-release Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 7) [root@host fms]# uname -a Linux mrisgstream01 2.6.9-78.0.1.ELxenU #1 SMP Tue Jul 22 18:40:06 EDT 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I am able to connect to the admin console on port 1111. I'm was able to redirect my "Applications" "VOD" and "Live" folders to folders on a different partition. I can create a new folder "Test01" in Applications and see it show up in my admin console. When I attempt to connect with vodtest.html to the following constructed URL: rtmp://hostname/vod/sample.flv I get "connectionError". I tried many variations of the URL, including coping the flv to my Test01 folder. rtmp://hostname/vod/media/sample.flv rtmp://hostname/Test01/sample.flv rtmp://hostname/sample.flv And nothing works. I poked around some other Forum posts, they say I should see the numbers increase on the admin console under the "Manage Servers" tab, "Applications" Sub Tab.
How can I make the video I've placed in vod/definst show up in the streams column in the Admin Console? I have an flv in the folder but nothing shows in the streams column.
Can someone tell me if FMS is required on our server if we develop an application that utilizes the peer-to-peer technology in Flash Media Player 10? Any feedback would be great.
Hello, I am creating a script to function like Ustream.tv or Justin.tv and it is currently configured at www.Toxin.tv. What I need to do is retrieve the status of a stream (amount of users and whether or not it's live) more importantly, though, whether or not it's live in JavaScript or PHP - if this is at all possible. Please help me, If I can't figure it out I'll just pay someone to do it 😛 but I'd really like to try to do it myself first. Thanks so much in advance.
Hi, We are developing a video chat sofware. When i run our chat applications on the server for a day or two, and then try to login in to the FMS console its just blank. I can see the total connections but not a single application instance... Why? The applications are running fine all chats work as well as the streams but i cant see any application instances at all Anyone? /Z
I'm new to FMS. When I try the out-of-the-box VOD example on FMS3 I consistently receive a connectionError on the client side. The video does not play. I have FMS3 installed on Linux Fedora Core 4. The error happens both when the client-side Firefox session runs on the FMS3 machine, and when I try from Firefox on an XP Pro SP2 box. That is, the .swf file properly shows the test client that offers up the various sample files that are part of the FMS3 installation. I can also talk to the admin server, bringing up the admin console. Port 1935 seems reachable (via telnet). I do observe one other anomaly: in the admin monitor, when I try to instantiate a VOD or Live application, I can see for just a few seconds the right-hand side display pane with buttons, and 'live log.' These disappear after a few seconds, and are replaced by the 'Load an Instance' prompt. I've seen a post of the identical problem on a German Flash forum. What am I doing wrong?
Hello All, I've been reading this huge let of documentation, and I'm kind of stuck. I can't get content to list inside the admin console. Heres what I have so far: I was able to install FMS3 on my redhat linux AS3 box. I installed to a custom directory (/usr/local/adobe/fms) I need to keep my content in a different directory (/stream_media) I've tried updating <installdir>/conf/fms.ini and changed the default VOD_DIR variable to /stream_media/fms/vod and restarted my services (fms and adminconsole) with <installdir>/fmsmgr app. I'm not sure how content is supposed to show up in the admin console. If I create a new instance (in admin server) select VOD then give it a name, I was expecting a directory to be created in /stream_media/fms/vod/Something, but nothing shows up. If I manually create a directory there, place the bikes.flv file in there and refresh (open and close) the admin console still no content shows up. I think the Bigger issue is I have Zero FMS kung fu, so
