FMSI 3.0 crashing with *many* (2000+/sec) messages in /var/log/messages Config: FMS Interactive 3.0 on CentOS 5 Kernel 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5PAE #1 SMP i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux Processors: Quad Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 8214 8 GB RAM, 8 GB Swap enabled Problem: FMS stops accepting connections and throws the following error into /var/log/messages at a rate of 2,000+ messages per second: Server[10924]: Failed to wait for process condition: errno(43). /var/log/messages very quickly becomes huge -- this morning it hit 15 GB and filled my /var partition. Only way I can figure out to recover is stop FMS and syslogd, remove /var/log/messages, and start syslogd and FMS. Server will run for seemingly random amount of time before this happens again. I have not been able to correlate this problem with any specific activity or streams. Any ideas will be appreciated. JP
Hi, I'm evaluating the Flash Streaming Server product for an upcoming website I'm working on, and so far it's working! However, I can't seem to explain why streamed videos viewed in Internet Explorer are skippy. The audio stream is fine. If a user plays the same video in Firefox, or Safari, the video is perfect and it doesn't skip. Is there a known issue with streaming video to IE over other browsers? Here's a link to one of the videos: http://www.rihanna-online.net/videos/dontstop/DontStop.html (Note.. to avoid a possible flame post: The site isn't open yet and I have a license to use the music video.)
Is bandwidth detection and bitrate adjustment possible with Flash Media Streaming Server 3? I know the streaming edition doesn't support custom application deployment, so does this mean flexible bitrate streaming is not possible?
Hi, i am currently thinking of buying the Flash Media STREAMING Server (~995 $) and in order to see if this is the right choice, i also take a look at the Wowza Media Server for comparison. I want to support Live Streaming from Events with Flash Media Encoder 2.5 and for this i'll need a user authentification for giving access to special publishing Users only. Wowza Media Server supports a User Authentification by parsing the connecting URL, witch is delivered by the Media Encoder on starting a Connection, and therefor grants or denies access to the publishing function. Only Users with the right Access Persmissions, which is written trough a password and the onPublish Comand in the url, can publish Live Streams. Everyone can watch the Live Stream, if no restriction to the onConnect Command was made. The Problem in this case is, i will need seperate Application folders for every user who should be able to start a live stream. This would be a horrible effort... more info ==> http:
We have some basic questions for an installation (windows 2003/FMS3) server for a videoconference applicationt with max 10 rooms of 3 persons x room connecting remotely: 1) Is there an upgrade for the fms components optimized for FMS3? If not should we go with the old ones? 2) is there a way to detect client bandwidth and latency and optimize Audio/Video based on that on a per client basis? 3) We are experiencing hight latency issues that are not acceptable for videoconference (5-10 sec): is there a way to optimize server config for that? Is there a way to have Quality Of Service configured on the network like for Voip apps? 4) I'we read in the manual that 44hz encoding is faster than lower rates for audio? I would have expected the contrary. As the audio is the most important for our system is there a way to optimize that? We have big echos (also with the reduce echo settings) and bad quality.Any way to improve this?
Hey, We have FMS3 installed on our server but whenever we try to load a new instance of VOD it disappears after a couple of seconds. There doesn't seem to be anything useful in the log files to explain why this is happening. I have tried restarting the server to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated
Is it possible to stream mov/mpg from a web server using Flash without Flash Media Server or other streaming service?
hi, we just installed the newest version of fms on debian, but we can't get h.264 vod to work. the setup is default, and we used vodtest.swf from samples / applications to stream the sample videos in applications/vod/media. sample.flv and AdobeBand_640.flv works great (VP6 codec). AdobeBand_300K_H264.mp4, AdobeBand_800K_H264.mp4 etc. all fail with a "connectionError". I tested this with 9.0.124 standalone & plugin and 9.0.115 standalone & plugin, on both windows xp and mac os x 10.5.2, everywhere the same problem. thanks for any ideas, koben
Hi, I can stream out of box without router only. If I use router (did opened port 1935 TCP), my live stream would not show in my website. Is there something I should set in my .swf?? like adding port 1935 after my IP: rtmp://XX.XX.XX.XX:1935/live/instance Also I'm having bad frame rate (~1-2 fps) problem when viewing from my site. I try to stream 300kps live and my upload bandwidth is ~400kps. Is this still my bandwidth problem? Thanks! d
Hi all i am new to adobe and want to develop two chat programs one is audio chat and other is video chat i want to confirm either Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3 supports the audio or video chat or not If it does't support please suggest me the right solution for audio and video chat Thanks
Hi, I don't know if this is related to Flash Media Server nor not (I doubt it since it's we're just discovered it's happening locally as well). We've recently purchased and been using Flash Media Server for all of our online video. We were using WMP and have been converting all of the old videos over to FLVs now. Several of my co-workers can view these videos fine, locally and on our sites. Some of us though, myself included, can't see the videos either way. I have Flash Player 9 and am on a Windows XP system. My co-workers who can see videos have a nearly identical setup to mine. I am able to view video that's using Flash on other sites though and can still see our old WMP videos. Any ideas? This appears to have just occurred relatively recently and I'm afraid I can't think of anything I could've done that may've triggered it. Thanks in advance!
I have hard time getting this URL to work on FMS 3.0.1 and latest Flash player. rtmp://localhost/vod/flv:Catalog/userA/sample.flv If I move the sample.flv to the Catalog directory, it works fine (rtmp://localhost/vod/flv:Catalog/sample.flv). I've tried with and without the .flv file extension and mp4 files. Can anybody pl help me out and let me know what I am missing? I checked to make sure all directories and files have all the file permissions.
Hello everybody, We use FMS for videoconferencing and, as far as I know, FMS 3 does not support H.264 encoding from a webcam source. I does support H.264 playback, but, for now, that is all. I'm wondering if some third party sellers have a solution for this. If so, has anybody tried any of them? Does anybody know if and when FMS will support H.264 encoding form a webcam source for videoconferencing? Thanks!

Hi, I am using H264 encoder from company named NVSS and I would like to connect my stream to Flash Media Server 3. I would like to know if this is possible or I should use only Flash encoder 2 for that? if it is impossible where can I get the API for that? thanks
Hi, I'm trying to make use of the new Flash Media Interactive Server 3. I've written quite a few classes to make a game in a nice and object oriented way. All of them in Actionscript 2 style. Now when I'm in my 'main.asc' (the file actually executed by FMS. I can't find a way to import these classes. when using: import package.Class; The server can't resolve the package name. When using: load("dir/file.asc"); The server doesn't allow me to use the 'class' keyword. Does anyone have any experience in this field? And is it even possible to use these kind of classes (wich work fine when using them in a client side SWF) Thanks! Bart
My company would benefit greatly from being able to stream movies directly from mp4 files, which from what I understand FMS3 and Flash CS3 can do. Currently we have to convert all videos to FLVs, and being able to cut out that step would be a big help for us. So I just want to make sure that to get that ability, do we need to upgrade from FMS2 and Flash MX 2004 to FMS3 and Flash CS3?
q1) Are there any differences between a progressive download player and a streaming player q2) In my streaming player, If I drag the playhead to the right, for instance 65% way across and release, the video starts playing instantly...without having to buffer....is that the way it should be? Thanks Craig
Hi, I went through this tutorial (very nice and easy): http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/webcasting_fme_print.html Got most done and working (can preview my stream in flash pro), however i got an error when viewing in my published .swf. This connection error : can't connect internet... rtmp://localhost:1935/myLiveApp/instance1/mylivestream Looks like i need to open my port 1935....but i'm not sure how... I tried to open my router setup page, ->virtual server -> TCP or UNP (something i forget exact name) -> open 1935 But still not working.... Please help!!
Hi, I plan to build plugin for authorization client. I need to get object and it's properties which passed from client during calling 'connect' method. Is it possible to do so? which plugin is better for that ( auth or authorization)? Thanks
Hi, I want to know how to use an ip camera and Flash Media Server. I need to stream video from the camera. I dont know if there is a way to run a swf from the cameras server or any other solutions. Please give me a direction. thanks in advance.
How can I use another encoder to do live streams? The Flash Media Encoder is alright for most things, but I want I want to go a little deeper and try to improve encoding, doing 2-pass, and a few other quirks to try to improve my live video quality and bandwidth usage. The problem is, I have no idea how to do that for Live encoding. I'm not very experienced either with Flash or with FMS. Looking at the documentation, I only see one way to connect to the FMS, which is by Flash. And after connecting by Flash, I have to either use "netstream.attachVideo(Camera.get()) + netstream.publish" which gets information directly from a video source and the publishes to server, or by choosing an already existing FLV file, and then publishing it to the server. But how can I publish live encoded video without using the FME? FME does it somehow, and I'm pretty certain those hardware encoders (I.E. Kulabyte) have some way of using the FMS to produce live content as well, so there must be a way, right?
I am using application.onDisconnect Event for updating some entries in Database side through php. Its works fine. But in some case it doesnot call onDisconnect event and hence not updating db entries??Is it problem of concirrent access of onDisconnect event or what????? please help me
We're getting ready to start a new project at work, and the concept will be somewhat similar to the subservient chicken site done a few years ago. Basically we'll have tons of video clips in a folder that load based on commands (or questions) that you pose via input box below. The idea is simple enough, but the issue that we're having is deciding how to serve up the video. There will likely be at least 100 different clips, ranging from 1-30 seconds or so. They will be (I'm assuming at this point) around 200kb to 1mb in size - I'm not picturing them being huge in file size, but at the same time the quality will not be low. We really want it to be "snappy", as in, when you type something and press 'submit' we'll want a video response to load in pretty quick, or at least as quick as the client will allow. Also, the site will potentially be getting a lot of hits a day (in the thousands). Would we be receiving any sort of benefit from using Flash Media Server for a project like this, or
