Hello. I need help. I have recently bought a FMIS license, because I need to broadcast live video to a few classrooms over the internet, and I need to use the origin/edge approach to diminish the bandwidth requirements, since each computer in the classrooms will access an edge server, instead of the origin server. The problem is, I have no idea how to set this up. I looked at the livedocs about setting up an origin/edge, and still I haven't been able to figure out what I should do. Before I place my questions, I want to show how I intend to use the edge servers: a) In each classroom, there will be an edge server. b) The html pages containing the live feed, will probably be on a local intranet server (same machine as the edge server) c) The access to the origin server should be in an implicit URI mode. The students will access their local edge server and it will foward automatically to the origin through a "<proxy>" tag. Now here are my questions: 1. On the 7th item of
We currently have a server that operates as a streaming media server running Adobe Flash Media Server 2 in our organisation and I was looking into if there are any update features from Adobe available to automatically download and install latest security patches etc? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hi All, I'm building a simple record app that will record a sound from a user and let it avaliable to other users in the server. I'm using this code to save a stream: myNC = new NetConnection(); myNC.connect("RTMP://xxx.xx.xx.xx/rodrigo") out_ns = new NetStream(myNC); out_ns.onStatus = function(info){ for(var prop in info) { trace("netstream :"+prop +":"+info[prop]); } } nome = _root.nomeUser.text; out_ns.attachAudio(mic); out_ns.publish("/rodrigoi/"+nome, "record"); It works, but it saves the file as an FLV not MP3, I want to know if it's possible do that using only flash com 1.5. I guess that the file is saved as flv by default. thanks, rodrigo. -- Rodrigo Augusto Guerra Alumni e-Learning Team rodrigo@alumni.org.br (11) 5644-9792 www.alumni.org.br Antes de imprimir, pense em sua responsabilidade e compromisso com o MEIO AMBIENTE! Perhaps i have missed it somewhere, but it seems like the examples provided for flash media server are all geared towards Actionscript 1.0 and the NetDebug.as (tutorial_sharedball for example). Are there samples somewhere for using Actionscript 3.0 with FMS 3.0. I find it really archaic to have to download old remoting .as files, make sure i save my file as AS1.0 and then have to debug all of these various things. Not only do i have to debug and remember to compile my application in to AS 1.0.. I loose all of the new functionality of AS 3.0 and then have to try and make sure all of my developers are doing the same. I may have missed the link somewhere or not looked in the right place for this information, if it is out there, i apologize, but any direction would be appreciated.
How do I delete an flv file from a media server? I have an application in which registered users can store flv files. When a user is removed from the system, I want to remove their name from a database and all of their videos from the server. I've taken care of deleting the users from the database, but don't know how to get rid of their videos. I have all of the file names stored in the database, so thatis not a problem. Thanks!
I have set up a page with a flash video in the two different mode streaming and progressive download video. Neither one shows up when I view the page from the server. Anyone have tips for me or know what the problem is? Thanks.
hello, Does anything know how to use round or trunc functions into a server script? If you put it, the script does not run
I would like to stream live AAC via Flash. Flash Media Encoder 2 not support AAC. I have yet to find anything. Help please.
Hello all, I just upgraded from FCS1.5 to FMS3 Interactive Server. I am running FMS3 on a dedicated RHE4 server as recommended, just for FMS. The problem I am having however is that I cannot connect to the server from my app. FMS installation went flawless, and I can connect through the admin console with no problems. I am trying even the simplest form of connecting... using Flash Media Encoder with the default 'live' app that comes installed. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with the setup, or why I cant connect? I tried installing the FMS3 developer edition on my local machine (windows), and that works with no issues whatsoever with both my app and the default 'live' stream with FME.
Hello, I am new to the Flash Media Server 3 and have decided to take the development server out for a spin. I use mostly linux based systems as well as apache mysql and php. (Commonly referred to as LAMP). I have been using fedora 8 for basic systems, and just installing minimal software to configure servers. I usually work from terminal mode and have most systems start in run level 3. I have had a great struggle trying to get The development server running in F8 and I have done some research in trying to get it running. The installation goes successfully, but the admin server fails to run. If anyone would please be kind enough to highlight any basic troubleshooting for FMS3 on general linux systems, sites I have read through but still have not resolved my issues include : http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=c533ee36&sliceId=1 http://www.ecinteractive.co.uk/blog/?p=25 http://store1.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=15&catid=578&a
Is there any way to restart Flash Media Server via the command line? Someone else did the install and set the admin password. I've added new users to the fms.ini file, but can't activate them until I restart. I can't log into the fms_console because I don't have the root password for FMS. Any ideas?
We just installed Flash Media Server license on our server and our streams stopped working immediately, but they were working fine with the development version. Does anyone know what's happening?
Hello, Maybe here I will find the answer. I would like to use FMS3 together with Flash Player for displaying advertisement content and/or live stream movies (copyrighted by my company) in company's points of sales. Of course I need to buy FMS license. But is such a usage of Flash Player legal? I mean - should I obtain any license for Flash Player to display some ads in point of sales on public displays? Or is Flash Player 100% free for commercial use?
I have installed FMS3 developer edition on my WinXP with default settings (havne't changed anything yet). /live/ and /vod/ apps work like their supposed to but when I try to get e.g. SharedBall in the samples in the document folder to run it gives the following error: quote: SecurityError: Error #2028: Local-with-filesystem SWF file file://C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3\documentation\Samples\SharedBall\SharedBall.swf cannot access Internet URL rtmp://localhost/SharedBall. I've checked the manual, checked the installation tutorials found in here and according to those I've done everything right. What am I doing wrong?
There is a problem when I just try to develop with FMS3.I find that the stream is not so fluency when use default settings. If I code "cam.setQuality(0,100)",the problem disapeared. After that,I try to code "ns.publish(***,"record")".Then I play the stream "***" ,It's fluency.I don't know why and how to fix the problem.
Is it not possible to use Stream.prototype.onStatus in main.asc to add an event handler for all Stream instances? I've added this code Stream.prototype.onStatus=function(info) { trace("Stream.onStatus(): level="+info.level+" code="+info.code); } to main.asc but the method is never invoked even if lots of events has been fired that should have been caught by the onStatus() method.
Hi All! I need to stream video files but verify that the user requesting the video has been approved to access it. My idea is to use some sort of signature based authentication (ie: that the url passed to the media server has some data that the server can then look at and verify validity to allow access to the videos). By reading at the docs, for some reason I get the feeling this can't be done in the Flash Media Streaming server, and that I need to use the Interactive edition. Is this correct? Is there other sort of built in authentication that I should use instead with the FMS server? I'm trying to find out so that I know for sure what product I need to buy. Thanks in advance for your help!
If this is true: 2060 x 700 Kbps ~= 1.4Gbps => Then the claim that the results published in the FMS3 White Paper are limited to 1Gbps throughput ( http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/pdfs/FlashMediaServer3_WhitePaper_ue.pdf , page 17) can not be true! Can someone comment this please, maybe i am not understanding the issue correctly BUT the numbers published are very confusing (pages 16, 17), the complete benchmark for the FMS 3 would be a benefit to us all...
Quite simple request, but I don't seem to find an answer or anything posted about it. We have a large FMS2 install that does nothing but stream video. We want to move to FMS3 Media Server, but in order to test what would happen to all the deployed files, we need to have a test box that allows only the signed applications to work. Is this possible to do with a configuration switch?
I would like to create a Flash movie that streams MPG and .mov from a location on a web server (through HTTP). I keep reading you need Flash Media Server or a Flash Video Streaming Service using FLV files. Can you do it without Flash Media Server or a Flash Video Streaming Service? I.e. just stream it through HTTP using ActionScript.
hi, i want to know if theres a way in chich i have a camera recording video to the server and have some delay in start playing that video, for example 1 minute after start recording the video i start playing it. is this possible ?? thanks
Hi all, I'm currently trying Flash Media Server 3.0 with CS3 and Flash Player 9.0.115. Our goal is to implement a videoconferencing application with H.264 encoded video. In the feature list, it's clearly stated that the server allows live publishing of H.264 content. I haven't seen any documentation on how to do this yet. I don't know if the player publish in H.264 by default or not? Is it possible to do this?
I installed the compat-libstdc++33.i386 dependencies and used -platformWarnOnly, however the server will not start at all. Worse, there's nothing in /var/log/messages or anywhere else (that I can tell) that gives me a clue about what's wrong. Has anyone been able to get 2.0.x running on RHEL 5.1? Pointers, help appreciated. Thanks.
Hi to you all, This is my first ever post on this forum. It has been of great assistance many times, but i can't find any information about adding metadata to a live stream - apart from the regular info about the height, length and so on. Is it possible to add metadata "on the fly". I want to use it for controlling navigation on client swf file. or is there a other more simple way to do this and "save" the commands sent for the ondemand version of the file? Best Regards Niklas Fischier
Hi, I am working with Flash Media Server on Ubuntu. Recently I deleted a 250G hard drive full of .flv files and I have had problems ever since. First the drive was all screwed up so I repartition it. This worked because I can cp files into the mounted drive; but the Flash Media Server sees the drive as being full even though it is not.
