hi i make this flash server import mx.data.components.WebServiceConnector; client_nc = new NetConnection(); client_nc.connect("rtmp:/prodd"); time= SharedObject.getRemote("sharedtime", client_nc.uri, false); time.connect(client_nc); var res1:Function = function (evt1:Object) { my_array1.removeAll(); n = evt1.target.results.length; for (var i = 0; i<n; i++) { my_array1.push(evt1.target.results); } time.data.arraycase30 = my_array1; }; var wsConn1:WebServiceConnector = new WebServiceConnector(); wsConn1.addEventListener("result", res1); wsConn1.WSDLURL = " http://127.0.0.1/web2flash/service.asmx?WSDL"; wsConn1.operation = "getCase30Companies"; wsConn1.params = ["mhefny", "mhk"]; wsConn1.suppressInvalidCalls = true; wsConn1.trigger(); setInterval(Recase30, 2000); function Recase30():Void { wsConn1.trigger(); } and i uplaod this flash server into the server it's ip is 81.12.127.100 and placed the flash server in C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\prodd a
Hi. I'm relatively new to FLV and streaming but I'm coming up to speed quickly (I think). I have a Flash app with two buttons. When the user clicks a button, an FLV movie plays inside an FLVPlayback component. It currently works and I'm using Flash Pro 8 to do this. Anyway, the code that I use to do all this is below. My first question is: are the first two lines establishing a net connection even necessary? When I eliminate them it still appears to play. If it is not correct - is there better code that I should be using? I'm using Influxis as my Flash Media host and the package provided me calls for 384 kbps bandwidth. Also, the FLV files are 16 and 12 mb each. When the user clicks a button, it takes about 2 seconds for the video to begin playing. Does that seem about right? Thanks very much for the advise. var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); var ns:NetStream; nc.connect("rtmp://xxxxxxxx.rtmphost.com/VideoPlayer"); my1_btn.onRelease = function (){ myPlayer.contentPath = "r
Hey, Here's what I would like to do: 1. The Flash Media Encoder sends a live stream to FMS 1 2. On FMS 1, a connection to FMS 2 is set up and the live stream is sent to FMS 2. 3. Every second, a message with metadata is sent to FMS 2 using Stream.send() 4. A Client connecting to FMS 2 receives the stream and the metadata that was sent along with it. I know this sounds pretty confusing, but the main problem is, that I don't have access to the FMS 2, so I can't call Stream.send() there. First I thought the solution would be using Stream.play() with a remote connection, but when I call the Stream.send() method nothing happens on the client side. Then I thought I could do the whole thing by using a client side application that connects to FMS 1, receives the stream, embeds the metadata and publishes it to FMS 2. Here's the code I used: // Connect to FMS 1 to get stream client_nc.connect("rtmp://localhost/encoder_stream/room_01", "Client"); // Create input stream in_ns = new NetStre
I have developed a Flash chat for a client using FMS2. The application is used by goups of 5-15 people, who will use it for up to 2 or 3 hours in one session, sometimes even longer. Many of our users are complaining that they consistently get disconnected after about an hour. They can usually log back in immediately. Are there any known issues with connections being lost? A second problem I'm facing is that periodically my entire interface(AS2, SWF7) stops interacting properly. No user input(click actions, text input) is received, and several animation scripts stop updating. However, the application is still connected and new messages are received. Again, users report this behavior consistently after an hour. I know that is an extremely ambiguous problem, but I've been going crazy trying to isolate the problem, if anyone has even a guess, I'm all ears. A few facts about the chat: - It uses a persistent RSO to store chat history - Chat messages are sent from client to server, and pro
This seems to be a major issue with FCS that hasn't really been fixed or solved by the programming community. When you are streaming to the FCS server and the connection is lost (internet connection lost, cable unplugged, wireless network closed, etc..) The FCS will not close a null stream for approx 5 minutes. It seems that FCS is set to run some sort of detection at a specific interval. I have seen some vague answers to this question using garbage collection and server side scripts. The best I have seen is to run garbage collection in main.asc, but there is no details as to code that you need to enter into main.asc to detect this with garbage collection. Has anyone had any success with this? Or .....is there another workaround that can be implemented? Tyler
Hi, I am new to Flash Media Server. I have installed FMS 2 on Windows 2003 Server, I have loaded the .flv file in applications directory and created the instance on FMS managment console. The .swf file is in the Web Server (IIS 6.0) root directory. Next what? how to link the FMS to the Web Server ? I would really appreciate if anyone could help me setup the FMS from scratch......or a link with an example... Thanks
I've got an extremely frustrating problem that I can't figure out. I have a simple application to test the connection to the FMS 2 server. If it can connect it basically just says "Connection Successful", if it can't connect "Connection Failed". It's named 'FMStest' and I have created a folder by that name in the 'applications' directory within the FMS2 directory. The local version connects successfully and shows as connected in the management console--the connection string I'm using locally is: rtmpNow = "rtmp:/FMStest"; The remote connection fails everytime--I upload the published files to our webserver and access the created html file. the connection string I use for the remote connection is: rtmpNow = "rtmp://my.domain.com/FMStest"; //domain changed for security reasons Here is the full code: var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); var rtmpNow:String = new String(); rtmpNow = "rtmp://my.domain.com/FMStest"; //changed for privacy nc.onStatus = function(info){ trace ("Le
Hi all, We are using FCS v2. We have been successfully writing log files and recording streams to both local disk and filesystems from networked devices (SMB mounted shares, NFS shares etc) for years. But since setting up FCS on server 2003, we *cannot* successfully record to any drive that is mounted via the network (SMB, NFS etc). The server itself can use/access the network drive just FINE! All copy/open/delete/etc operations work just fine, from the cmdline and also within Windows itself. It seems the only app that CANNOT write to the networked drive is FCS2! Has anyone experienced anything like this with W2K3 server? We can reproduce this error with 100% accuracy. Note that as soon as I change the appropriate tag in the XML config files to point to a local disk, everything works just fine. Its not a show-stopper for us, but it means we have to have some kind of batch job that will offload the recorded content to aforementioned network drives in a lazy-update manner (not ide
Hello, I got a chat application and I'd like to be able to disconnect a user from a specific stream without disconnect the whole client connection. I don't want this to happen from the client Flash application as it's easily hackable and would like to be able to control this on the server. But I don't see any way to access a specific played stream between a specfic client and the server. Is there any way to do so?
We are interested in streaming flash like a tv station on our website. We have a 35 minute loop that we would like to set up as streaming on our homepage, so a visitor will hit whatever random part of the loop is playing when they log onto the site, much as a tv channel surfer switches into whatever random part of a tv program is on a network when they switch the tv tuner to it. I've surfed the net and had a hard tome coming up with any explanation as how to do this. Video on demand (clicking a play button to start a particular video from the beginning is relatively easy), but setting up a constant, tv-channel-like stream, I'm having a hard time finding. Thanks for all your help in advance. Reid

Hi, I need a setup to stream movies. This setup must have redundancy. What I am looking to do is setup 2 FMS Origin servers and 2 Edge server. I want to replicate the Origin servers with each other so that they are always mirrored for the movies. I guess what I am wanting to know is can I have the edge server connect to both Origin servers? In a cluster environment like this I see in docs that each server announces it is online. If I am reading this right then will the Edge servers know when the Origin servers are online and when they are not. I am shooting for as close to 100% uptime as i can. I will start with these 4 servers for now and add more as needed. Any info on this will be great.
Hi everyone, I have been checking the possiblities that Flash Media Server offers for a proyect I have in mind but I not expert at all in Flash area. I would like to know if FMS2 can connect with othe servers via LAN and get from them a live video signal? For example, I have a camera-man how is on the street, the image from this camera is going to the tv studio. An then a totally diferent server with FMS2 installed is capturing this signal and streaming it on web. Is it possible? Maybe I am asking a stupid question, but as I told, I dont know how FMS2 is working. I will apreciate any help you may give to me. Or if you can tell to me where I can find this info. BR. Raúl. BR. Hello, I installed FMS 2.0 on a server that i have and i'm trying to connect to it from a local swf file. I have no idea how to reference the Media Server. Is it by IP? Do I need to set up something additionally on the server like in IIS? I'm totally clueless. Any advice or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Here is what i'm trying to do... var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus = function (info) { trace(info.code); if (info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success") { trace("connection successful"); } } nc.connect("rtmp://SERVERIP/simpleconnect"); how do I reference the remote flash media server? Thanks in advance?
I'm about to buy FMS probably within a week or so. So, when is official release date of FMS 3? Should I wait for it, or just proceed with FMS 2? I 'd hate to do what I did last time when I bought over $4,000.00 worth of CS2 software just to have CS3 released two weeks later! DOHH!!!. So, since I know FMS 3 is lurking out there in Alpha (or possibly even Beta) I'd like to not get burned again like I did last time. Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.
Hey guys, Im looking for some kind of confirmation that it is indeed impossible to perform a HTTPService Call from Flash Media Server 2. I know that it is possible to perform SOAP Calls, and i can do that very easily by loading the nessesary components: load("webservices/WebServices.asc"); Thats great.... but what if i want to perform a POST or GET call to a HTTPService? This example shows how it could be done on the client side by importing the respective components to it: import mx.rpc.http.HTTPService import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent; import mx.rpc.events.FaultEvent; and creating the HTTPService object is a breeze after that: service:HTTPService = new HTTPService(); BUT! - can this be done on the serverside ? - on FMS2 ? - or is it indeed impossible at the current version? Hope someone can bring to light to this... //EoniX
Do I have to specify a remote shared object in the onsync event of my main application ? What are the consequences of not setting the object in the main applications onSync events? Because i have a remote shared object that works properly as long as i don't specify it in the onsync event of the main application........the object is being set as SO.data.slot0 = SO.data.slot0*1 +1; in the main application The initial value of SO.data.slot0 is being set outside the main application in an admin console to the value of 1.
Does anyone know of a premade product (or actionscript technique) to track traffic to a stream? We would like to know: 1) how many times a stream is initiated, 2) how many times the stream is completely watched and 3) how long (time) the stream is watched Ultimately we need to have a tracking mechanism to report on pre-roll ad usage, but these same stats would be helpful for general site traffic as well.
In this way, a client does not have to upload media files to an FMS server. He could store it on his local harddisk, and when he plays it, everyone else could watch and share it. Based on my limited knowledge, could it be done this way: 1. build a network connection. var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); nc.connect("rtmp://toFMSserver...); 2. Then for client 1: var media_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); media_ns.publish("mediaID"); // publish media_ns and give it an id. media_ns.play("local/video.flv"); //play a local file. 3. Then for other clients, linked to the same FMS application instance, they would do in their own movies: var clientNS = new NetStream(nc); //get a new stream MyVideo.attachVideo(clientNS); //stream attached to a video clientNS.play("mediaID"); //play the stream published by client1. Would such a scheme work?
I am doing a playlist kind of thing and I know how long a stream will be so I checking the stream.time to provide a progress indicator. None of that is an issue, it all works fine, except I noticed the progress indicator jumping and jittering a bit. So I logged the data. Here is an example of what I see for the stream.time on a 200ms interval: 0 0.271 0.533 0.396 0.951 1.238 1.525 1.396 If you will notice, the time is non-linear. The video is smooth and does not jitter. I did notice that When I restart everything it seems to smooth out and stop doing it. But after a few minutes it starts jittering again. Has anyone noticed this? Is this a known issue? Any clue what might be going on here? Thanks
Hi there, I have two FMS 2 server that I need to use as a failover and load balance to maintain 100% uptime. Does anybody know what would be the best practise doing that or do you know of material to read about this. Best regards, Boris
I've been beating my head against the wall on trying to get a simple video streaming going with CS3 and FMS2. Are there any "HelloWorld" type tutorials for this? I have found some on the web bu they all are Flash 8, and I can't seem to get them to work with my setup. For one thing, I don't even know if the main.asc is the same for CS3 as for Flash 8. All the tutorials say that you should use the one in the Flash 8 samples directory, but I am on CS3 not Flash 8. I even tried to find some books on it, but once again, they all seem to be for previous versions, so I don't know if I should spend the money if they won't work on my versions of the environment... Any thoughts?
hi my fms app maintains a persistent shared object to keep track of daily highscores, however whenever the app is reloaded or restarted all the data from the shared object is lost. This is my SSAS: this.todaysbest_so = SharedObject.get("todaysbest", true); it seems like it should be so simple to implement, I can't see where it could be going wrong. I've matched the persistence parameter when the client gets the remote object too: this.todaysscores = SharedObject.getRemote("todaysbest", comms.uri, true); any tips/ideas? Thanks
I am having one problem with my online FMS application (card game). When I access it with one internet provider it works great, latency 20ms, but with second internet provider (same speed) latency is up to 30seconds and more. How can I override settings that different internet providers have?
I am trying to execute the following code: var wsdlURI = " http://queue.amazonaws.com/doc/2006-04-01/QueueService.wsdl"; sqsService = new WebService(wsdlURI); // If the WSDL fails to load the onFault event is fired. sqsService.onFault = function(fault){ trace("Impossible to load sqs webservice: " + fault.faultstring); } sqsService.onLoad = function(wsdl){ trace("loaded wsdl:" +wsdl); } And get the following trace: WebServices Loaded successfully. Sending error message: /opt/macromedia/fms/scriptlib/webservices/XMLSchema.asc: line 81: ReferenceError: document is not defined Failed to execute method (XML.onData). I don't know if this is due to a malformed WSDL or if it's an FMS bug. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark
