Hi I've just read the release notes for 2.0.4 and it says this: In the Flash Media Server 2 Server-Side ActionScript Language Reference manual, on page 115-116, one of the methods used to invoke setInterval() is no longer valid. The first method, setInterval(function, interval[, p1, …, pN]) is correct and should be used. The second method, setInterval (object, methodName, interval[, p1, …, pN]) is not valid. I've been testing with 2.0.4 using the second method and everything works fine. Can someone let me know if the second method has been deprecated?
Hi all, I am creating a application on FMS, I want to access or get the list of logged in users on my application. Can any buddy tell me it is possible to get the list of all users/client logged on FMS in a application. If yes then tell me the why how I can get the list of all logged in user in my application on FMS. Thanks in Advance. Vijay Shrivastava.
Hello, all. I'm having some problems with odd pauses creeping into our video streams. What happens is that the server streams out data to the clients (which are on various websites and other physical servers than our FMS box), but then stops streaming for some reason. The clients then reconnect, but there is a noticeable pause -- several seconds long -- while they do so. Tests so far have shown nothing in the logs (which are collecting all available data fields), despite the pauses showing up in the SWF files playing the video. I'm using the workaround of telling the SWF to buffer the entire movie for now, but this places too high a load on the end-users' systems. Has anyone else here encountered a similar problem?
I'm having a problem setting up Vhosts with FMS 2.0.4. What I would like to do is set a distinct applications folder for each vhost. So far I have been able to only get applications to appear in the default applications folder. I have also been able to get 2 different folders accessed via changeing fms.ini VHOST.APPDIR flag. Unfortunately all the same applications show up in all vhosts. I have edited each Vhost.xml file to point to a separate specific dirs but these do not seem to be picked up. What am I missing here?
Does anyone out there have, or know of a shared object viewer that would let me see the contents of my shared objects?
I encountered a small problem with shared objects. I'm working on a program that creates chat rooms of a fixed size of 30 users. When the 31th user comes, a new room is created. The idea is that the client first connects to the first room and checks if it's full by connecting to shared objects. If it is full, connection is closed and process is reapeated on a new instance of the application. I use a function to connect to an instance, which takes as a parameter a number (1 for instance room_1, 2 for room_2, etc). The function itself creates the necessary Netconnection and sharedObject objects. If a room is full, Netconnections and sharedObjects are closed and function is called again with another number. I have no problem for connecting to the first room, but after closing the first connection and connecting to the new room, there seem to be some problems with the shared objects (especially, OnSync doesn't seem to execute again after the connection to the shared objects of the new i
Hi, I am evaluating flash media server for usage of our camera application. Reason that I wanna use this is that mediaserver has ability for dynamic buffering. My question: is it possible to set up dynamic buffer if it not a pre recorded file. For example I am making a video of 60 minutes and want to broadcast straight away - I save the file on mediaserver and mediaserver needs to broadcast staright away. People with a slow connection can start viewing the video after lets say 10 minutes, mediaserver calculates the connection. So when we finish recording they finish watching ten minutes later. Can anybody please help with this question and also if it is possible how to make the application? thanks Julie
I have used REAL Server, and know a little about MS Media server, but I admit I am lost here! OK, I use Camtasia studio to generate FLVs files. Camtasia also generate a javascript file, XML file, 2 swf, and an HTML page. I was thinking that all those files would be on the web site, and only the FLV on the flash server, but I have no idea what should be my "application". Is there a script I need to have on the server? I know how to read doc (Yes, I do.. <smile>), but would love a few pointers to know where to start, as i's a bit overwhelming! In fact, I would love an example about serving (non-interactive) FLV videos from Flash server. I may just have a url problem btw, so, if the explanation could show the url to be used from the domain name, it would also help! Thanks for any help! Bernard
I'm developing Chat application Using Flash. I designed the client side application, but dont know how to host the server in Flash media Server 2.Tell me how to run the chat Using Flash Media Server 2. Thanks In advance
Hello, This is pissing me off actually, the service is automatically stopping! FMS version is 2.0.1, i am using windows XP. I am having this problem since today only! i thought that it might be services conflict issue, so i stopped most of the services that are not by MICROSOFT, and still the FMS stops after exactly 4 seconds or sometimes less. I am using the Developer edition. is there any limitation for that edition such as expiring after 3 or 4 weeks? i guess not! PLease help... and yeah, i tried to reinstall the FMS, did not work out.
hi I want to make an application with FMS : mouse sharing over network . It means when a student access a web of his teacher he can see the mouse of his teacher . The teacher shares his mouse so the student can learn online I dont't known should begin from where ? Could you help me?
// Server side application.onAppStart = function() { // ... code here application.users_so = SharedObject.get("users_so", false); // ... more code here } application.onConnect = function(newClient, userID) { // client object properties being setup, etc application.users_so.setProperty(userID, newClient); // ... more code application.acceptConnection(newClient); } // Client side nc.connect(rtmpURL, userID); users_so = SharedObject.getRemote("users_so", nc.uri, false); users_so.connect(nc); When I call the above on the client side I should receive a copy of all users that are stored in the server's shared object indexable by users_so.data[userID] correct? on the server side I perform the following: application.acceptConnection(newClient); newClient.call("updateStatus", null, userID); on the client side the updateStatus method looks like this: nc.syncQuestions = function(userID:String) { trace("--> "+users_so.data[userID]+" <--"); }; (is the ';' necessary?!?)
Hi, im developing a RIA application (a virtual flash character), and I want that these character talk to end users. The voice sintetyzer (TTS), give me an amount of audio buffers in PCM format, and I want to send it to flash clients. My question is if it was a posibly to create a custom Stream and send it to the clients. In other words, send the audio generated by the voice sintetyzer (located in the server machine) to the flash clients. Ive reading the example of SampleClient, but i culdnt find anything about how to publish a custom stream. Saluts...
I wanna write a little flash, that downloads an mp3 file from the server; then the user can download the file on his coputer. Can flash do this ? thanx
We are streaming long FLVs (about 1.5-2 hour-long) and they start loosing audio/video sync after about 10 minutes. The audio falls progressively behind the video the longer it plays. Skipping to different points in the stream does not reduce the sync problem. Jump to the beginning: no sync problem. Jump to the middle: noticeable delay. Scrub to the end: more delay. If we play the same FLVs with progressive-download, the sync is perfect. Does anybody face with that problem? Is there any way to avoid it?
Okay, I'm still working on the problem I've been on for three days. I have a call to main.asc and it returns a string. (I only care that it returns, not what.) Through your help, I am successfully calling the routine in main.asc. But something really weird is happening now. The return function is getting called even when 1) the connection to the FMS is physically broken, and 2) I remove the return statement from the function in main.asc! Here's the routine (I have removed my debugging statements for clarity.) private function ConnectionTest () { _root.application.EventDesktop.m_ConnectionTestResult = false; //Response function for the heartbeat call above var ESMSIsConnected = function( ) { _root.application.EventDesktop.m_ConnectionTestResult = true; } if (_root.session.flashComm.m_connection == null) { _root.application.EventDesktop.m_tries++; } else { _root.application.EventDesktop.m_tries = 0; _root.session.flashComm.m_connection.call( "heartbeat" , new ESMS
Hello, I am working on a project that involves some serious video processing to get meta-data about the video. The end result is to stream live video with meta-data to multiple clients using FMS2. But the video has to be processed first, and it cannot be done in Flash. I have an idea about how it might work. The first step is to capture a web cam stream with my existing application, and do processing of it in C++, then stream it (plus the calculated meta-data) to FMS2. My big question is: can I stream from a non flash application to FMS2? If so... how? Is there a library or sample code I could use? Thanks for any hints, or suggested other ways to do it. - Seth
I work at an online university in the IT department and I'm currently building requirements for a flash based media server. We currently use some Adobe Captivate and Adobe Breeze projects in our classrooms that is stored on a file server using IIS. Although things are going great using what we have, we plan to step things up a incredibly over the summer so we can actually stream video and audio without the need for the end user to download the video/audio first to their computer to view it. We have an assortment of quicktime files and windows media files that we would like to also stream, but we would preferably like to convert these formats into a single format such as Adobe Flash, which is why I'm here looking for assistance. I understand this can be done with many third party products like Sorenson Squeeze, Flix and Sound Forge. We are preferably interested in a content management style of an interface so staff can be enabled with varying skills to publish streaming presentations,
Okay, I've got something simple going on but I can't see it. I am trying to add a heartbeat function to main.asc so that my client apps can regularly detect a connection. But I can't get the call to work. Here's the code from main.asc: Client.prototype.heartbeat = function() { trace("Heartbeat tapped"); return "HI!"; } Here's the call from the client: private function ConnectionTest () { var rtn; rtn= m_connection.call( "heartbeat" ); if (rtn != "HI!") { Alert.show("Lost heartbeat"); } } I'm following other examples in the code that work. I get no response from main and the trace function in main doesn't print in the server admin page, where I expect to see it. Can anyone see what's wrong?
We are planning to change the hardware and Operative System of our Flash Communication Server. Someone knows if it is possible to install FCS on a 2xDual Core AMD Opteron (64 bits) processor server with SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 OS? Thank you very much for your support.
Hello to all, i am new to the Flash world and am trying to figure out if Flash Media Server Pro can be installed in a clustered server environment (active/passive). specifically: 1 - can it be set up so that when the primary server fails, the secondary server will take over any incoming requests? 2 - can this be done at the "Pro" license level? 3 - are two seperate licenses required for this, or is this usage (since it is any active/passive cluster) covered under a single license? the items i found on the site are very specific to setting up Edge/Origin servers - but we are not looking at getting dedicated servers for this. we want to use our clustered web site servers. with thanks for any help provided rica
I'm using the Adobe Flash Video Encoder to send a live flash video stream to my FMS 2 (Developer Edition) on a Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition Server I'm connected to FMS and the encoder IS sending the video. When I look at the FMS Console its confirmed that I'm connected and publishing a LIVE video. I can't view the video, which I thought was going to be the 'easy' part. I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure a flash .swf embedded in a web page to VIEW the video. IT"S MADDENING. I'm a bright guy, but in my opinion FMS is very poorly documented when it comes right down to telling you HOW to make things work. Any help is appreciated. I'm good with Flash, but I come from a Windows Media Server background. This is my first foray into FMS.
Hello I installed a fms 2.0.4 on a linux box. The Admin panel and the daemon is runnig, i created a test site to connect to the fms, but i am not able to get the movie running. I used the flowplayer like described here to connect to my fms http://flowplayer.sourceforge.net/howto.html the index.php file holds that <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="FlowPlayerWhite.swf" width="320" height="262" id="FlowPlayer"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="movie" value="FlowPlayerWhite.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="scale" value="noScale" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="flashvars" value="config={streamingServerURL: 'rtmp://192.168.66.68/film', videoFile:'parade.flv'}" /> </object> the player plays the flv when i dont use the fms, if i want to connect via the fms it connects but the movie is not playing I adjusted the debugging and i foun
I have a progressive video file FLV which is dynamically loaded using AS NetStream function. Now I want to stop the buffering of the video after a certain amount of bytes are being loaded. For example, the FLV size is 10mb and I want to PAUSE the buffer after the 2mb of bytes are loaded. During the PAUSE of the buffer, the connection should be ON and I should be able to play the video. Is there any way we can PAUSE the buffer and after certain amount of time, we again can START the buffering process? Say it should again start buffering after 2 minutes. Thanks in advance. AS NetStream
Hi, FMS 2 server can monitor at least "active connection", "megabites", "memory" and "cpu" usage. However I have not been able to save these values to a file for late viewing. Only been able to monitor them live. Does anyone know how to save the performance monitor data and view it later. Regards Boris.
