Hi guys, I am doing some work with FCS for the first time. I did run inot a couple of issue's but found ways around then or at least i thought :S First issue: When a user records a stream he/she is promted to save it at wich point i have a php script moving it to an open web directory. Now when i try to call this flv for playing i get a file not found error(404) i know that the flv is there and that the content path is correct. I have evet went as far as to put a simple swf in the same directory as the flv file. I tried with both video and flv player /---------------------------------------------/ var connection_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); connection_nc.connect(null); var stream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(connection_nc); vid2.attachVideo(stream_ns); stream_ns.play("profile.flv"); vid1.contentPath = "profile.flv"; /---------------------------------------------/ Now here's my second issue. The files that have been recorded to FCS. How on earth do i delete them witho
Hi, I've just spent a few days reading the documentation and setting up FMS2. I have created an application sub-directory where I've placed my FLV files. However when I use the debugging feature in the management console the videos don't show up as "stored." I can only debug them when I try and connect through an SWF connection and then view the console at the same time. The problem is that they show up as "Live" and there's nothing to see but a blank playback window. (The video also does not playback in the SWF. I can start, pause and stop the stream but no video or audio is present). Any ideas where I'm going wrong? Thanks
I'm having all sorts of problems trying to get streaming FLVs to behave as expected. I am streaming an FLV file into a Video instance. I am setting the bufferTime to 5. The biggest problem is that it seems that after the initial 5 second buffer, it plays in fast forward up to the 5 second point, then hits empty buffer, buffers again, then plays normally. Tracing onStatus, this is what I get: NetStream.Play.Reset (what does this mean? sometimes it appears after the Start event) NetStream.Play.Start NetStream.Buffer.Full (this is where it starts playing in fast forward NetStream.Buffer.Empty (less than a second later!) NetStream.Buffer.Full (now it plays normally) NetStream.Play.Stop NetStream.Buffer.Flush NetStream.Buffer.Empty (why does it trigger an empty buffer after the video is done playing and flushed?) Any help would be appreciated, been fiddling with it all morning so far and I'm still pretty baffled.
Have any of you ever heard of a main.asc file being "mysteriously" deleted from an application's directory? I'm working on a client project that was being developed on an in-house Fedora Core 5 server where I'd installed FMS. I uploaded the client's video streams and coded main.asc's for two separate applications. One of them, the larger of the two, had some very important code in there that took me several all nighter's to get right. Long story short, the project got put on hold for a while and now I'm taking another look at it, and moving it to a server live on the internet. In doing so, I'm seeing that the main.asc file I wrote for one of the projects is just plain GONE, like it never existed. The other application is fine, untouched, but the more important of the two has another strange twist: a directory called "http" that I never created. Inside it are some streams (placed in their own subdirectories) from the application's "streams" directory that I never moved in there. And o
Hi guys, On the Dynamic Playlist the thumbnails are made by connecting to the video and getting the relevant frame. I have over 40 videos in my collection and lots of traffic which would mean every client is connecting to 40 videos each time. I would like to put in my own jpg image into the list instead of a video frame capture. New to all this so any help would be appreciated. This is what creates the frame capture nc = new NetConnection(); nc.onStatus = function( info ) { trace( info.code ); } nc.connect( url ); ns = new NetStream(nc); ns.onStatus = function(info) { if ( info.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop" ) { nc = null; ns = null; } } thumb.video.attachVideo(ns); ns.connect(); ns.play( stream, start, 0 ); but I would like to say thumb.image = "my_image.jpg"; or something. Any ideas?
Hello! I have made a mp3-streamer in flash. Users must log on to a web page in order to access my player. If one user logs in once it's all OK. The problem occurs if a user "share" his account with multiple others and log in twice (or n-times). Now I have no control on how many users that can log onto the system. I'm looking for a solution where for instance the first one who logs in gets to play the stream, and all others that log into the same account are refused access to streaming. I'm not a back-end programmer, so I hope this is something that can be solved using FMS. Is there a known working solution to this problem or some features on FMS that can lock streaming to the first user. I've tried sending in the username, however if user#1 stops the stream user #2 is able to take over the stream, so now user # 1 is refused the stream. Trond
Hello! We want to start audio/video-service transferring live stream (cam-2-cam, video/audio/text chat) for an acquaintance site basis on Flash Media Server technology. For uninterrupted work of this service we have calculated that it is necessary to introduce the server scheme consisting of 1 Origin and 2 Edge servers. The number of simultaneous user connections is about 1000. The users have the bandwidth at least 256/256 Kbit per second (download/upload). Our questions: 1. Is our calculations true? 2. What requirements are necessary to bandwidth to each server in this case? 3. What is the price of license in this case? 4. How and where it is possible to get Flash Media Server in territory of Russia or it probably to carry out through head office? Thank you!
Hi Two q's in a row, you may officially call me a n00b :) I have a MP3-streamer app that generates an audio object, and i use NetStream.play() to make it play. (I need the scrubbing and volume an so of the audio object). So when I request a new MP3 file I experience a second or three of pause before the next file starts playing, I've set buffering time to zero. Is there a way of appending the next file to the end of the file playing so I dont get the pauses? This way I could send over a request for the next file when, say there's 5seconds left of the playing file, then appending the next file and make the files play continously. I've done this with recording and the publish(..., "append") function, from the client, but now I want the server to append files for me. Alternatively I could send over the entire playlist at statup and generate the entire stream once if this is possible. Any thoughts or methods, please? Thanks, Trond
Hi all. I am working on a video chat/text application. The only piece of information I cannot figure out is the rtmp address that goes in the flash media encoder stream server area. Can someone help me figure this URL out? My host says it's 411.myhostname.com:1111//opt/macromedia/fms/applications Does that look right? TIA everyone.
Is it possible to send an email from FMS? If not, how would I go about creating a connection from FMS to a http server running PHP? Just use LoadVars like a regular Flash client? Would that invoke cross-domain issues to resolve?
I've streamed FLV files off FMS before, but always using components. I'm trying a simple setup with a Video instance, with no luck: I put my FLV file on FMS in /myApp/streams/_definst_/myVideo.flv I have a Video object on stage with an instance name of 'vid' My AS is: var vid:Video; var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection(); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); nc.onStatus = function(info){ trace(info.code); vid.attachVideo(ns); ns.play('myVideo'); } nc.connect('rtmp://rtmphost/myApp'); When I publish, I get "NetConnection.Connect.Success" but no video or audio. What is not correct about this set up?
I am new to FMS. I am working with the videoPlayback component. I have tried several different ways of connecting to the FMS server, including the simpleConnect component, and coding in the connection myself. In all cases I am able to successfully connect to the server. Within the console I see my client connections, as well as the prospective streams. However, when I hit the play button on my videoPlayback component, nothing happens. Within the streams window in the console, I see the streams there, just sitting idle. Also, the name of the stream is blank (says "-") and the time says 0. My main.asc file contains only one line - it loads components.asc. According to the server logs, all components are loading successfully. I have made sure to place my FLV within the stream directory and made sure to reference it by its name only, not with the .flv extension. Thoughts? Thank you! Candace
i want to recoed flv file and also i want to record it with good quality so i use the method setQuality , belongs to Camera and put 0 for parameter bandwith and 100 for parameter frameQuality the quality indeed is good but the problem is that it drops frames and it looks freezing and not smoothing is there a way that the quality will still remain good and without these problems?
It's been 6 months since anyone last asked about books. Any suggestions? I'm really new to Actionscript/Flash/FMS, being a Java developer by trade. But like many I'd like to build a simple video messaging application recording from a webcam. I'm surprised that I can't find any good recent books on FMS2. Also, should I be learning Actionscript 2.0 or 3.0? Does FMS2 support Actionscript 3.0? Does it make any difference? Thanks for your help.
I am wondering how you would create an app which streams varying quality recorded FLVs, based on user input or bandwidth. Is it possible to take a single FLV source and stream it to clients at varying quality(resolution, framerate, etc)? Or must I encode a different video for each quality setting?
Hello there, not sure if this is in the right topic group, but im sure someone will move it if so! I am currently in my final year of my web design degree. In my current project i have set up the ability to allow users to send MMS messages, which then go into a db on my server. At the moment, images are fine, as they embed into HTML as .jpeg However, videos and audio are received as .3gp and .amr respectively. Does anyone know how i would go about converting these into something else that sits in HTML, preferably flash?! Any help would be great. Kind regards, and hope everyone is ok Nick
Ok, I'm stumped. I have been fighting with this thing for days on end and working into the night... but I cannot get Flash Media Server to work. I would love to call tech support, but they won't help because I don't own the software... but the guys who pay the bills around here won't let me buy the software until I demo this thing for them. Here is what is happening: I have installed FMS on a Windows Server 2003 box and used all of the default settings. I created a "sample" folder under the applications folder. I also added a _defInst_ folder: C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server 2\applications\sample\_defInst_ I then went to Flash 8 and created a test Flash Document and attempted to import the flv video file... however I get the following error: ================================================ Failed to load FLV: rtmp://[IPAddress]/sample/sample.flv ================================================ I can watch the "sample" application in the Admin Console and observe t
Hi all, I have a quick question about something weird I am experiencing when streaming live media. I hope somebody can help. I have written a two very simple Flash clients: one captures video from the webcam and streams it to FMS2.0, the other is used to view that video stream. The NetStream on the viewer client has a 2-second buffer. The weird part is if I run both clients on the same computer the viewer client falls farther and farther behind the capture client. Eventually it is playing video that was captured hours previously. For some reason it is not playing the video as fast as it is being captured (I have set the capture frame rate at 15 fps). This only happens (so far) when both clients are running on the same computer. It happens whether I run them via the Flash IDE or in a browser. Everything works great when I stream between two different computers. Both clients are extremely bare-boned and don't do anything complicated. (they were copied from examples in the official M
As I read about Flash Media Server, you can "allow users to broadcast their own video from a webcam live to other users" That is exactly what I'm looking to do for my web site. My question is..... If I were to purchase this program, does it explain straightforwardly in the manuals how to do this, or is there a high learning curve to achieving this? I'm not looking for someone to do all the work and code for me - tho that would be nice :-) - but rather, Just please point me in the right direction because I have no clue where to start. Thank you very much. -Benjamin Gotsens
Hello All, I am currently working on a project which requires to record a video stream from a WebCam. The work is pretty similar to www.flixn.com. I am able to capture the video from the Webcam but is unable to record it . Can anyone help me to get this done. Thanks in advance. Regards, simanta-int
for several reasons i need the old 1.5 flash communication server – but can´t find the download?!
It appears the latest FMS 2.0.4 update file for Linux is broken. I downloaded it multiple times and it has CRC errors.
HI I'd like to take a snapshot of video from a webcam and then store that snapshot either as a file or as an object in a remote shared object anybody know how that can be accomplished? I also need to know how to store a picture in a remote shared object ...the picture in this case is being brought into flash using loadMovie.
Here is the setup: remote site has video cameras that feed to a central box (basically a PC but proprietary) site sends out single video feed in H.264 site will accept commands to change the camera that is in the feed being sent out. I have a central monitoring center that is run on a web based monitoring software using flash. I want to be able to feed the video to the flash player and display it. can this be done? would I need to change the video codec used or is there a way to convert it using the Flash Media Server? or would I have to write my own server to do this? I am trying to figure this out before I spend a large amount of time learning the Flash Media Server. Thanks Jim Fee Viking Electronic Service
Hi, i got a question concerning Flash Media Server 2. I am using the videoconferencing example with an embeddet flash-presentation. It's the exaple where a speaker can talk via video/audio to multiple listeners while simultaniously sliding through a Flash-Presentation. The speaker can also accept questions from the listerners (the video questions don't work somehow, only chat). Anyway, to use this, the user must previously convert a powerpoint presentation into Flash format. First question: Is it possible to make the conversion on the server somehow? Maybe FMS2 has some functionality i don't know of. Second question: Is it somehow possible to convert recorded streams into video podcasts and make them avaiable for users to download? Greetings, Frank
