Brand new Imac and experience several issues with premiere

I hear you brother. I have also a brand new Imac and experience several issues with premiere. And most of the time when I work from other suites on other computers, there are similar issues. If Premiere is supposed to be a tool for professionals, you can't be restarting the program or wait for the beach ball all the time. I got to say that I'm leaning towards switching permanently to avid or Davinci. Even though it lacks many of the tools of premiere. The constant interruptions of errors and crashes and whatnot, is too big an annoyance. And while I'm ranting, Adobe has to take responsibility for Wacom integration. The mouse is terrible for your wrist, something that most editors experience during a career. Wacom is one of the most obvious substitutions. But rather than taking this seriously, adobe uses the Wacom board as an explanation for any problem you may have with premiere, and there are a lot. FIX NOW!

Make your complaints known to the product team here: Premiere Pro: Hot (3993 ideas) – Adobe video & audio apps

Keep in mind that iMacs are, at best, in the midrange of the kind of power you need for Premiere Pro. I would say, they're OK for using proxes, but are far from what I personally consider to be a workhorse. Like, you shouldn't be editing 4K natively without transcoding to ProRes or using proxies, IMO.

Not to throw shade at your purchase, they are beautiful looking and well designed computers. However, unfortunately, we have not seen "heavy iron" from Apple that we used to see, say, in the 5,1 "cheesegrater" era. I'm hoping that will change for the sake of Apple fanboys around the world (including me) this year. The rumor is that they will be putting out some "heavy iron" later this year. Let's hope so.

I am from Cupertino. I went to Cupertino High, De Anza College, and grew up watching Apple rise up from an apricot fruit drying yard to actually having an office at 1 Infinite Loop for two versions of FCP (I was a tech writer for ProApps). I am a dyed in the wool, Apple fanatic. That's why it makes me rather disappointed that the emphasis has been mainly on mobile, not on powerful PCs for creatives like we need right now. To any of my buddies at Apple reading this. Hurry up! ;-)

    Cheers,
    Kevin

Same here. It never stops. I thought the latest update released about late Jan 2019 would help but no change.
