Is there a better player for playing1920 x1080 or 4k Videos than VLC?

The Media Browser tab in Media Encoder, After Effects or Premiere Pro works pretty well.

You might like Adobe Bridge.

If you're running macOS X, QuickTime Player X if what you're opening is supported by AV Foundation Frameworks.

Telestream Switch Player has broad format support, but I think it starts at $10 for the player only version.
