Resolve Comparisons

- no support for High DPI monitors -  Neither program works perfectly when Display Scaling is set above 100%.  But that's not a problem.  The entire point of higher resolution is more screen real estate, so one should always leave Display Scaling at 100%.

- very inflexible interface compared to Premiere - True, but this isn't an editing feature.  It doesn't prevent one from doing the job, it just means one may have to do things differently.  That's not unexpected when switching software.

- very poor proxy support - How so?  I find the Optimized Media in Resolve works as well as Proxies in PP.

- locked timeline frame rate - True, but how many RED projects will this be a problem for?

- export frame rate locked to timeline frame rate - This isn't entirely true.  There is some flexibility here.  But again I ask, how many RED projects will this be a problem for?

- no way to force cache render an individual clip if Resolve has decided it doesn't need rendering - Resolve has even more flexibility here than Premiere Pro.  One can force a render of the Color effects, the Fusion effects, or both at any time in User mode.

- starting a render locks up your session until the render is finished - The same holds true for PP.  You can't continue working until the previews are done generating.

- very poor UI synergy between its various cobbled together components - This is an opinion more than anything, and it's one I personally don't share.  Each workspace in Resolve is specifically targeted to the job at hand.  I find that very practical.

- clunky speed ramps - you're forced to do ramps in "bands" of speed, rather than an actual ramp - This isn't true.  I find the keyframing of speed ramps to be much easier in Resolve than in PP.

- clunky batch exporting of multiple timelines  - This isn't really editing related.  But you can change timelines from the Deliver tab.  And the Export Settings remain unchanged when doing so, which makes adding a slew of timelines to export very fast and simple.

- no multiple project support - True.  But...again...how may RED projects is this going to hinder?

- no duplicate frame markers - They've been added.

I disagree with pretty much everything you said (thanks for the Duplicate Frames heads-up though), but I don't want to hijack this thread into a Resolve vs Premiere discussion, so I'll drop it here. I think both of our arguments have been represented well enough, and whoever wants to discover either or both apps can do so quite easily with a low cost barrier. I use both, and I like both, and I'm very happy that Blackmagic is aggressively gunning for Adobe's lunch.

    Fair enough.
