Saving small video file sizes for email

Good morning.

I have a bit of trouble creating small animated videos for internal email communication as well as social media. I use after effects to create the animations and export using media encoder. The file sizes for the final  products are generally above 100MB, all at 30fps. Using the media encoder to reduce bitrate reduces it only to an average of 20MB depending on how big the file size from Ae is. Then i reduce the videos further online to about 7MB. The quality is not bad but also not great. For email, they require a maximum of 1MB for distribution in the organisation. Is it possible to get the video file sizes that small and still maintain crispt quality?

There is no miracle to be done. Compression and quality go in opposite directions. You can reduce the frame rate to 10fps, and you would have only one third of the data. You can also reduce the size of the video, from 8k to 4k to HD to SD to even smaller. With every reduction, you need to reduce the bit rate to accordingly to get a substantial gain. And you can limit the bit rate further. All those parameters will work on different aspects of the video quality.

Use the Media encoder to experiment with the different parameters and formats.

Sending video by email is out of the question. Your requirements are impossible, and this is just not done (except for a few simple animations).

Instead, host the video and send a link, in the usual way.
