Question

What is the point of beta?

I know a lot of people at Adobe work very hard to make this product work and I'm very thankful for that but its hard for me understand why there is such a high frequency of unstable releases that make it past beta.  What is the point of beta?  These are major bugs too, not small things.  I've come to realize you should never upgrade to a new version of premiere unless its at least at xx.2 or higher.  Too bad the marketing department prefers flashy, buzzy and mostly useless features in a new version over just simply a 'stable release'.

I totally agree that stability is critical and non-negotiable for a pro product!  As the Product Manager for Premiere Pro, I can assure you that this is our number one priority.  We've invested heavily in this area over the last few years and I'm proud to say Premiere Pro is faster and more reliable than ever before. But we know we're not done and we're not slowing down on this any time soon.

Glad to hear @Francis-Crossman17221443 and I think I speak for most of us here when I say we appreciate that you take time to communicate with us! Also glad to hear that performance and stability is being focused on! But what about quality of life updates and long term bugs?

A Premiere Pro "Just do it!" would have been great to see! The Photoshop team did this, maybe 10 years ago or so, where they just fixed all those small issues and added quality of life improvements that users had been naaging about for years and years! I want this about a million times more than new features, which often just ends up being gimmicks that aren't that usable for pro users anyway.

    Hi Sulaco,

Thanks for the note. FYI: all of Adobe does JDIs, including the Premiere Pro team. That's why you need to create feature requests in the Ideas forum, so they know what to prioritize. Hope the info helps.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I think asking for stability is a very important message for power users to transmit. There are SO many features I just won't use - I'll always carefuly place and tweak my audio keyframes myself as but one of 1,000 examples - but I MUST have a stable, fast, stable, reliable, stable, responsive, stable, tool.

Thanks for recognising the problem and getting to work on a fix. Curious to know as to how/why this wasn't caught prior to release. Bugs like this can make users initially assume the problem is with their machines and waste a lot of time trying in vein to resolve the issue. This has made many users very apprehensive about early version adoption. I feel we're at a point where professional editors are being used as Beta testers.

Yupp, have felt like a Beta tester ever since Adobe introduced the subscription method! And it's not really getting any better!
