Well, Ann's doing porcelain, and I think that Rodney's shooting hamburgers...

I'm just watching the America's Cup, and Steven's playing in the rain.

Tested my new lights and my new reflector tonight.

Decided that I just don't have the room to do this properly. It was OK, but I need to use a longer lens and I need to be farther away from the greenscreen. I have to wait for the garage. Hopefully that will be by the end of the month. This purchase of a house is taking longer than all three of our previous purchases combined.

It would have been OK with a black or a white, or even my red background, but I got a little spill and I don't have enough lights to counteract that. I think part of the spill was coming off of the reflector. I don't think that will be an issue in the garage.

One softbox plus the reflector were able to provide a reasonably even greenscreen. Keylight didn't have any trouble knocking it out.

Craig, you will be glad to hear that the autofocus seems to work just fine for video. I will practice with it shooting stills and see if it makes a difference.

    oh...

well, it didnt take that long to give you that info...and maybe you can use it later on to solve some other problem. or help someone else with the info..

maybe someone else will read the thread and get something out of all that re: thread adapters, etc... who knows.

running out of room is pretty much par for the course.. its surprising how fast you suddenly find you need more space in photo stuff dont you think ?

its surprising how fast you suddenly find you need more space in photo stuff dont you think ?

    Wow! Ain't that the truth!!!

My problem is that I know what to do after watching a bazillion hours of tutorials, just not always how to accomplish it in the space I currentl;y have. I suppose that is better than being clueless. As soon as I have room I should be OK. Even if the garage is not enough room with the door closed, I should be able to back the camera up into the driveway. The covered patio is plenty long enough. So that could end up being my favorite space to shoot. I just wish the darn sale would hurry up and go through!

I know I want to be at least 6 feet or more from the greenscreen, and I know I want to shoot with a 200mm lens, and I know how to light everything. I just can't get the lights, and the reflector (at 48" it takes up some room) into a 12'X10' room with lots of stuff already in it.

I got a decent key other than a little spill, so now it is just a matter of being patient.

    - Editing and posting vids of my buddies and me playing the Battlefield 3 video game.  Premiere helps immensely with this task.

    - Prepping my gaming rig for the next generation of video games such as Battlefield 4 and the new Batman: Arkham Origins.  Preperations include removing the single GTX680 card and replacing it with 2 GTX Titans SLI'd.

-(Im)Patiently waiting for Intel to release the new Ivy Bridge Xeons, so that I can build a dual-CPU Hackintosh rig.  Already have the Gigabyte motherboard picked as well as the case and power supply.  The decision after that: which CPUs and which video card(s)?  Perhaps 2 more Titans?  Great googly moogly!

    - Stuff for my real job at work, which I can't necessarily discuss, but is fun all the same.  I still can't believe they pay me to do what I do.

Waiting for a response from the store I gave the music choices to. Finished up a pro-bono project for my wife's school. (I don't know that they will use it. It was commissioned by the outgoing headmistress and the new one does not know me from Adam and may not want to advertise what I was asked to shoot.)

Wasting time on the forum is always on my ToDo list.

Staying out of jail for violating some security rules.

Thinking about Joe Bloe Premiere's invitation to join in on the "Post something you're proud to have edited" thread. Not sure what might happen to it if I put it out there.

making a list of fun things to do tomorrow while waiting for hist society board meeting to meet tomorrow nite and decide (vote on) if I can use pics they have at no cost to me for doc. about Mound.

    List so far for tomorrow:

A ) fill up sandbags ( got 50lb of play sand in trunk of car )

B ) make sun visor for lcd screen so I can actually SEE something when shooting video outdoors (especially the little blinking thing that says it is 'recording' ).

Plan so far is either showcard or just use black wrap.

C ) write more flowery praise about documentary and try not to puke while doing so.

Planning a major household renovation, gathering up spec. sheets on appliances, helping wife clean out her closet, in anticipation for moving out for the construction and trying to get our permits through the City Permits Dept., getting ready to head to Hawai`i for little vacation, before heading to SF for some meetings.

Oh, and checking in at The Video Lounge.

Hawaii is a great place to visit, especially when you live on the West coast.  It takes forever to get there from Georgia.  Here we have the Florida Keyes and the Bahamas.  You need a passport to go to the Bahamas!! Which island/islands are you planning to visit?

    Chuck,

We are only doing O`ahu this trip. We start on the North Shore (where my wife's cell coverage is spotty, at best - though there is WiFi unfortunately), to just kick back. Wife's knee needs an operation, so we are not playing either golf course at Turtle Bay - just chillin' for a bit.

Then, we head over to Waikiki, to dine, and chill some more. She has a meeting on Sat, but otherwise, no work.

However, we then come back to SFO, where she has two intense days of meetings, and do not get back to PHX until after Midnight. Bummer, but with the late meetings on Tuesday, we are catching the last flight out. Thank goodness for all that chillin'.

We normally try to do another Island, on each trip, but I think that this is the third O`ahu-only one, in a row. Need to get back to Maui and to Kaua`i, and I still want to do Moloka`i, the only Island (other than Ni`iau, of course), that we have never visited. Also, it's been too long, since we were on Lana`i, and when wife's knee is rebuilt, maybe we can do golf on Maui and then Lana`i. Just taking the ferry over is great fun.

I understand about having to travel across the US, then to Hawai`i. That can be a trek. We so often fly into SFO the night before, so that we can take the early flight from SFO to HNL. Sort of breaks things up, and I do not have to get up at 3:00AM to catch a 6:00AM flight out. On the return, we usually need to do 2 - 3 days in SFO, so things get broken up naturally.

I have two clients with active projects, and a script from a third that

is out circulating in order to gain funding for broadcast in Illinois.

The first is a series of 20 1-1/2 to 3 minute web videos

(I have 8 left to deliver, two are out for approval).

The second is two :30 TV ads for broadcast in Maryland.

The shooter is dropping the media off with me this evening.
