    Hi,

I hope you do not mind that I branched this OT discussion off from your main issue, which has wide interest I think.

    Thanks for understanding,
    Kevin

Not bashing Apple anymore than I "bash" anything. I know a ton of people who work on Apple stuff, including Kevin here. And I've been through a ton of posts on this and other forums over the years including all sorts of OS issues. And differences.

It's gear. Period. Apple achieves 'reliability' by locking down what anyone can do with the gear or software. It works, mostly. And provides limits also. You can't have it both ways, I suppose. PC's and Windows don't come with the limits, but there are issues that arise in such a wide-open environment. Comes with the territory. Linux is even more wild-wild-computing.

Anyone in love with a vendor ... well, they're welcome to it.

A number of the colorists I work with have migrated away from Macs as they needed more oomph and control of hardware ... and Mac went what ... five years? ... between changing anything on the mobo. And have found they could get powerful and very customized rigs and work just fine, thank you. And some colorists are still working away on big Macs.

As with anything from anyone, there are pluses and minuses. It's life.
