Question

そこで検証のため、インストール済みのReader(バージョン2026.002.21931)をクリーナーツールを使用して削除。

Hello @stylish_Everglow4a36

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for sharing all the details. Sorry for the trouble you had.

Is this an ARM-based Windows PC, or an Intel/AMD PC? Build 26.002.21931 included a fix specifically for installing 32-bit Acrobat/Reader on Windows ARM devices.

Please try the following:

  1. In Reader, select Menu > Help > Check for updates and note the result.
  2. When the installer runs again, immediately save the updater log from:
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\AdobeARM.log
Adobe states that this log records updater status and errors and should be included with support requests.
  3. Because Repair, Cleaner Tool removal, and reinstallation have already been tried, please provide the AdobeARM.log, the Windows Installer event already collected, the installer filename/screenshot, and whether Windows is ARM or Intel/AMD.
  4. (AdobeARM.log, usually in the %TEMP% folder of the signed-in user). The log shows which package it tried to install and why.

Also, try the following registry changes in a new user profile, create a test user profile with full admin rights, and check.

Before making any registry changes, please create a backup, and try the following changes:

  • Registry: set bUpdater (DWORD) = 0 under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\<product name>\<version>\FeatureLockDown.

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/Updater-Win.html

I hope this helps, and please let us know how it goes. Please reach out with the log details, and if you experience any issues.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi @stylish_Everglow4a36,

Thank you for sharing the detailed environment information. We understand that an Acrobat Reader installation screen appeared even though you had previously uninstalled Reader, and that after installation, you received an AppContainer or Protected Mode incompatibility message while Trend Micro Apex One was running.

The incompatibility message can appear when security software interferes with system calls used by Acrobat Reader’s sandbox. However, we cannot confirm, based on the information currently available, whether Apex One caused the message or what triggered the installation screen.

Please work with your IT administrator to check the following:

  1. The exact Trend Micro Apex One agent version and whether any Adobe Reader or Acrobat processes are being blocked or monitored.

  2. Whether the Reader is assigned through your organization’s software-deployment or device-management system.

  3. Windows Event Viewer and installation logs from the time the installation screen appeared, including the installer name and parent process if available.

We recommend keeping Protected Mode enabled. It should be disabled only temporarily for controlled testing by your IT administrator, then re-enabled after the test.

If Reader is not intended to be installed on this device and a standard uninstall does not completely remove it, your IT administrator can use the Acrobat Cleaner Tool to remove any remaining Reader installation data. The Cleaner Tool does not, by itself, identify what initiated the installation, so collecting the installation details first would be helpful.

Please share the exact Apex One version, a screenshot of the incompatibility message, and any installer or Event Viewer details you can obtain. That will help us distinguish the sandbox-compatibility message from the behavior of the separate installation.

Thanks,
^BS

Hi @stylish_Everglow4a36,

Thank you for sharing the detailed information, logs, and screenshot. This is very helpful.

The AppContainer incompatibility message you're seeing occurs when security software intercepts system calls that Acrobat needs for Protected Mode. Based on the information you've shared, this appears to be a known compatibility issue.

Protected Mode is known to be incompatible with:

  • Trend Micro antivirus version 15 or earlier

  • Kaspersky Security for Virtualization 5.1 Light Agent

  • Palo Alto's Traps version 5 or lower

  • Some Symantec Endpoint Protection configurations

For guidance on whether your ApexOne version needs an update, please get in touch with Trend Micro support. For more details on this issue, see: https://adobe.ly/4rItFPW

In the meantime, you can use one of the options in the dialog as a temporary workaround.

Thanks,
^BS
