2020 MacBook Air will not finish installing Acrobat Reader

Hi! I have to install Acrobat Reader in order to edit PDF's for a class but I am having a lot of trouble doing so on my 2020 macbook air. Over the weekend I tried installing it but it never got past 40% installation. Now, when I try it says that it is "waiting for other installations to complete" and has said the same thing for a couple hours now. I know that nothing else is installing since I forced the installer to quit multiple times before trying to install again while on the phone with Apple support. Please advise me on how to get this installation to work.
