.25 Files

How do I stop my apps from converting files to .25 files? For example, when I save a PDF from Excel using the file name "Estimate, 02.05.25" the .25 in the file name converts the file from a PDF to a .25 file instead. I can't figure out how to stop this from happening or has anyone else experienced this as well?

Correct answer Souvik Sadhu

We have exactly the same issue! We can save with (for example) .20 .02 .10 (almost .anything) but when we save it with .25 (specifically) it causes an issue! Totally bizarre!!

Hi @keelys_6246,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for the trouble with saving files!

Have you tried the correct answer marked here: https://adobe.ly/4g5wqVz

This seems more like an issue with the file extension workflow for Windows than with Acrobat.

Removing the particular folder might be a good step to take here.

Let us know how it goes.

Souvik.

This problem seem to effect all those with the new Outlook version. As at work not all of us have the new version as yet. As those with the new version receiving an email with an attachment ending with .25 have that issue.

For example an attachment named ''Workshop 14.10.25'' will not open, whereas ''14.10.25 Workshop'' will work fine... I guess we have to wait for MS to fix this glitch.

Hello @gabriele_9147

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out and sharing the details.

This has already been reported to the product team as well as to Microsoft. This issue has been present in the new Outlook (2024/2025 builds). We'll share an update here once we here anything or any update from them.

Thanks for your time and cooperation.

Regards,

Anand Sri.

Hi @Finbarr_CEM,

Hope you are doing well. Thanks for writing in!

From the description, it does not seem like an issue with Acrobat, but with the way the files are being saved.

Since you are using periods for the date, your OS is capturing the last used period and the characters after it to be the file format.

Instead of using periods as separators for date, try using "-" or "/" and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps.

Souvik.

HI Souvik,

Thanks for your reply.

I have been naming files ending in .25 since the beginning at the year with no issues.

The issue with the .25 files only started in May for some reason.

The files convert from PDF to .25 files for no reason, even when converting from Excel, or saving PDF files.

Is there any explanation for file converting to .25 files, when they should be PDF's?

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Finbarr

Hi @Finbarr_CEM,

Might be a change in the file handling of your OS.

I do not have much clarity on this.

If this would've been something related to Acrobat, I could've shared more information.

But for OS related issues, I will not be the best person to comment.

Souvik.
