3 duplicate AcroCEF folders exist - Which one(s) can I safely delete?

There are 3 different places where the acrocef folder is located after a clean uninstall & install of Acrobat Reader DC:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\acrocef_1
  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\AcroCEF
  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\acrocef_1

Which one is actually used by Acrobat Reader DC?  Can I delete 1 or 2 of these safely without hindering the application?  Each of these folders contain 189 MB of the same files.

BUMP

I have 2 directories with many / most of the same files duplicated:

  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\AcroCEF
  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\acrocef_1

Why duplicated files in similar directories?  Are they all used?

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader there are 2 identical folders,

01/16/24 10:31 PM <DIR> AcroCEF
01/16/24 10:31 PM <DIR> acrocef_1

the contents are EXACT duplicates.

Now I sent acrocef_1 to the reecycle bin, and Acrobat reader version 2023.008.20470 seems to still work
