In Windows 7, Acrobat DC stops working as soon as I do anything more than simple scrolling, e.g. asking to go to  a page. I get "Read DC has stopped working". It worked before yesterday and again in the evening but not now. There are no outstanding updates. What can I do?

I have solved my own problem. countit32.DLL was in an old program for teaching typing that I installed recently. Uninstalling it has solved my problem.

Hi Johnr,

As shared above, that its a Windows 7 computer then you may refer to the help document and follow the troubleshooting steps suggested.

Let us know if it doesn't work.

I have followed Solutions 1 to 3. I cannot follow Solution 4 because I do not have acrodist. I tried to download it but got a program with a name starting with "Esc" . On checking what this was, I found warnings, so I discarded it. I cannot follow Solution 5 because I am the only user.

After a reboot, I cannot see a pdf file at all and Windows says it is looking for a solution. After this, I can see the file and scroll it, but 'Find' or going to a given page gives me

Exception EAccessViolation in module countit32.DLL at 0000269C. Access violation at address 0077269C in module ‘countit32.DLL’. Write of address 00000000.

Meanwhile, my laptop, also Windows 7, is OK.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

John Reid.
