Acrobat Desktop keeps asking me to start a trial

I am a user of Acrobat Desktop, ever since i uninstalled and reinstalled a the reader it keeps displaying a popup asking me to start a free trial or buy acroba; it prohibits me from accessing the rest of the document which I own and when i try to close the popup, the whole application closes. This started happening last week and since then ive been using my browser's inbuilt pdf viewer. I am disappointed in Acrobat's bug/feature in an attempt to make more money prohibiting me from using a free pdf reader as stated at https://get.adobe.com/reader/ My disappointment is immeseasurable and my day is ruined.
