Question

Acrobat failed to open its core dll

I can only open Adobe Acrobat Reader DC with administrator privileges on Windows 10. If I use a standard user account, I receive the message 'Acrobat failed to open its core dll.' Changing the security permissions of the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC folder or setting bProtectedMode=0 in the registry does not resolve the issue. How can I configure it so that standard users can use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC normally?

Hi @showshow.xiao

Hope you are doing well.

Also, have you deployed the Reader on an enterprise enviroment?

Make sure that Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader are installed to the local system drive. Installing on a mapped drive is not a supported configuration.

Give it a try by uninstalling and reinstalling the application once.

Run this cleaner tool to remove the existing installer and application’s file traces:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

Download the Acrobat Reader installer from here:

https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Or

https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/get-started.html

Thanks,

Akanchha
