Acrobat or acrobat reader plugin No option Security Method

Hello,

I have question about setting security.

When I open Acrobat DC i can set "security method".

But when i am using IE11 on Windows 7 this option is greyed out.

This is the same in acrobat reader, there it is also grayed out. (as designed)

My question is.

Could this be because the plugin of acrobat is a reader plugin?

And there is no option to change this setting.

Is the acrobat DC plugin the same as acrobat reader plugin?

    I am not sure how IE11 figures in this. You cannot edit PDFs in IE11. As well as Acrobat Reader, have you also licensed and installed Acrobat (Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Pro)?

    Ok, surprising that works, thanks for sharing. Could be useful. But whether the plug-in is designed for Acrobat or Reader, it doesn't allow editing in IE11. You can think of it as a Reader plug-in.

    Thank you for clarifying. Is editing not possible in all IE versions or only IE11. Or is it not possible anymore after specific update?

    The people from a company who hired me, say they could change these settings within IE. But i am not sure if they know the plugin started acrobat or the webview IE and they didn't see the difference.

    The IE plug-ins are not relevant in this case because you cannot edit a PDF in IE. I don't know how you could even show these properties from within IE but it does not change things. Editing must be done from inside Acrobat Pro itself.

    If i open pdf in IE11 browser , i can just "Ctrl D" within the browser and it shows the "Document Properties".

    In the second tab you have security with the "Security Method" greyed out.

    "Ctrl D" Same as within Acrobat.

    Yes, Acrobat Pro is installed. But if i look at the plugin in IE11 i see 4 plugin.
