Question

Acrobat Pro 9 next to Acrobat Reader DC

Hi,

i have an old version of Acrobat Pro (and CS5) that I use once every two or three years, So no incentive to upgrade,

However, I try to install the laters version of Acrobat Reader DC and it says it must deinstall my Acrobat Pro.
I don't want that. I want the reader AND Acrobat Pro 9. (The Touch reader doesn't cut it for me.)

Is it possible to install the new DC reader next to Acrobat pro 9, or do I have to look for a free reader from the competition (I hate those).

I am on 64 bit W10.

OK, I found a competitor for the reader that doesn't have these weird ideas/restrictions. To me and everyne I know a pdf reader is for every day use and should be simple, quick and leight weight, which it hasn't been at Adobe for years anyway, and it certainly shouldn't interfere with your other software... If Adobe Reader Touch for Windows could open nultiple pdf's at omce I would have happily stayed.

Adobe have decided that Acrobat and Reader will be one product in future. This means DC Reader is bound to uninstall Acrobat.

Hi @QQleQ Dramaprodukties,

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the delay.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 is now an end-of-life product; please refer to Help Document, and Adobe recommends having the latest version of the machine. Moreover, Acrobat DC and Reader should not be present on the same device. Acrobat DC is the superior version to the freeware Reader, so we recommend you only have Acrobat DC or the Acrobat Pro 9 installed on the machine.

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,

Bhupesh

I am talking about two products: Reader (Acrobat Reader DC), and Acrobat
9 PRO.

So I am not, of course, talking about "Acrobat DC and Reader", evn
though it eludes me why these could not be both present on the same device.

I explained why I am not upgrading Acrobat 9. For use once every three
years, upgrading is waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too expensive and the old version
works just fine for me, I know the product, I know it to do what I want,
it works and all that is not even guaranteed when I upgrade.

I just don't want Pro 9 removed when I install the Acrobat Reader. I've
used Acrobat Pro 9 and different versions of Reader for years on the
same computer for years with no problems.

Is that still somehow possible?

And if no, why not?
