Acrobat Reader crashing and showing errors

Hello, I’m using Windows 7 and facing issues with Adobe Acrobat Reader. The program is either not opening properly / keeps crashing and showing errors. Can anyone guide me on how to fix this? Does Acrobat Reader still support Windows 7, or do I need to install a specific version? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello @different_perfection9820

I hope you are doing well, and thank you for reaching out.

You can install the Acrobat Reader 32-bit on Windows 7 SP1 (32-bit and 64-bit) operating systems. See the technical specification page of Acrobat Reader here.

Open Acrobat Reader and try repairing the installation. Go to Menu/File > Help> Repair installation, and reboot the machine. Please note that Official support for Windows 7 ended in January 2023.

You can download the compatible version of Acrobat Reader. Then, use the Acrobat Cleaner tool to remove the app, restart it, and install Acrobat Reader. Select the Operating system, language, and version from the list. See the screenshot below.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Didn’t work for me using Win7 64 bit pro.  Downloaded Adobe Reader v5.  Works perfectly.

Thank you for the detailed response. I will try repairing the installation and reinstalling Acrobat Reader with the Cleaner tool. Could you please share the exact download link for the last compatible version of Acrobat Reader for Windows 7 SP1? I want to make sure I’m installing the correct one .

Also, is there a recommended way to check whether   Acrobat Reader is the 32-bit version?

I will follow up your provided link: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/reader/system-requirements.html?linkId=100000382209300

Thanks again for your guidance.

Hello!

You can download the last compatible version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC for Windows 7 SP1 directly from Adobe’s website, as shared above in the screenshot: https://adobe.ly/42qNX4I

To verify whether your installed Acrobat Reader is the 32-bit version:

  1. Open Acrobat Reader.
  2. Go to MenuHelp > About Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
  3. Look for the line that says either:
    • “32-bit” or
    • “64-bit” next to the version number.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
