Acrobat Reader DC Install Issues
Hi there,
I am running windows 10 professional, most current build as always. This problem has existed for over a year now. Every time acrobat reader DC decides it needs an update, the update fails on my system. And then I have to endure this convoluted work around where I have to download the entire executable. It's not always an easy task to ensure I have the correct update file. Once I ended with a full version of something that figured my primary function in life was to create PDF files. Well! Then I got all sorts of adobe email and contact information while I was supposedly beginning my 30 day trial for new PDF creation career. My bad that time, I tried to accomplish the task in less than one hour. Anyway, once I have the correct update file in it's entirety, I have to place it onto my SSD C drive and run it from there.
The issue appears to be that I am running an SSD for a system drive with my download folder located on a mechanical disk. Or something like that. The upgrade fails with complaints to that nature.
Questions here: Is anybody else out there experiencing a similar problem where the reader DC updates fail? If so, I am interested to know if there is a fix. Can you share it with me, and perhaps others? Not a work around! A fix where it updates like any other program update.
I have used Acrobat Reader faithfully since the beginning of the PDF: (their creation!). I have installed it on thousands of PCs through my many years working in the IT support field professionally and personally (although retired professionally, you never really get to retire with family and friends whom have your number, as you all appreciate).
As it is right now I have disabled the Adobe update service, and also the windows scheduled tasks that call the Reader download and update process. And this is my last effort at keeping adobe Reader as my PDF viewer of choice for me and those I support until death do us part.
I feel I did the workaround about 4 times with hope that Adobe would get a fix although, I understand why they haven't yet. .They've made it practically impossible for users of the DC reader to report problems. How can we expect a fix when there is no ears interested in our feedback.
At the end of the day, either we find a fix through this forum, or we find an Open Adobe ear, or lastly, kicking and screaming, we move on in life with another PDF reader.
Respectfully
Allan
