Acrobat reader DC is slow

My Acrobat reader DC is running very slowly. It's very frustrating. Not sure what to do. I've tried checking for updates ( I have version 20.013.20064). I tried "repair installation", and restarted my computer and none of those have made a difference.  Any suggestions? I really can't work like this if it will run this slowly. I'm using my laptop with Windows 10 Home, intel-core i7-8550U, 16 GB RAM.
