Acrobat Reader DC slow at launch

I have already proposed this question on the Italian forum but it has been over a week and I have not had answers for which i try with English forum

Hello,

for some time I have noticed a noticeable slowdown in the acrobat reader opening and precisely since I bought the new pc and installed adobe.

I select the pdf file with a double click and it takes at least 10 seconds to open it, ie it is not immediate.

if then I want to open a pdf file with the command open (so with adobe already loaded) the opening of the file is immediate

it seems that there is a slowdown just in the opening of the program that maybe do a check on the net before leaving (the only thing that came to my mind and that can cause the slowdown).

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled adobe a couple of times but the problem persists.

in the old pc this problem does not manifest itself and the opening of the file is immediate

what do you think? in other words how is it solved?

thank you

Hi Gianlucaa,

Apologies for the delay in response and the trouble caused.

We have a new update available for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Adobe Acrobat DC, v19.12.20036. Please try to update the application to the latest version available. Go to Help > Check for Updates. To know more about the latest version available, please refer to the link - DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products

If it still doesn't work

Please remove the application using the Adobe Cleaner tool - Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs and reinstall the application using the link - Download Acrobat DC installer for Enterprise term or VIP license

Let us know if that works for you.

Regards,

Amal

Edited Response

Hi Gianlucaa

Apologies for the trouble caused, as Adobe Reader is taking some time and shows some latency while opening the file and not opening them immediately. we need some more information for a better understanding.

  • What is the version of Adobe Reader? To check the version you may please follow the link- Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
  • What is the OS/Version?
  • Is this a behavior with a particular file or with any file you open?
  • Is the file locally available on your computer or is it on the cloud?
  • If it's with a particular file could you share the file with us through private message for the testing purpose? To know more about how to send the private message you may refer to the link - How Do I Send  Private Message

In the meantime, you may try the following:

  • Try to update the application to the latest version. Go to Help > Check for Updates. To know more about the latest version available you may follow the link - DC Release Notes — Release Notes for Acrobat DC Products
  • Try to repair installation (Windows Only). Go to Help > Repair Installation.

HI, and thanks for the reply

therefore: the program is adobe acrobat reader DC

the version is 2019.012.20035

the operating system is win 10 64 bit (always updated)

the problem occurs on all files and they are all on the PC and not on the cloud

the update and repair have already been performed - I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the reader a couple of times

Hi Gianlucaa,

As you have tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the previous replies and the problem still persists, you may try to turn off the protected mode.

Note: This is only for testing purpose, Please turn ON the protected mode after the testing.

  • Go to Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Turn Off the protected mode and uncheck Enhanced security.
  • Reboot the system and check.

Let us know if that brings any difference to you.

Regards,

Amal
